Baked Seasoned Squash

 

2 acorn or butternut squash or other winter squash

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup butter or margarine

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon dried basil

 

Wash squash and cut in half. Remove seeds.

 

Pour the 1/2 cup water into a baking dish and add squash cut side down. Bake

for 45 minutes at 350F. Take out of oven and let cool a little. Scoop

squash out of shell into 2-quart casserole dish. Mash cooked squash pulp, add

other ingredients and bake for 20 mins.

 

Add the rest of the ingredients, stirring well. Return to the oven and

bake for 15 minutes.

 

Serves 5
