Hey everyone I have a question I am planning on going shopping this weekend

and want to stock up on some staples that I might need often and I was

wondering if anyone has any suggestions so far I know I am getting several

different pastas and dried beans but what else might come in handy for

vegetarian cooking I grew up in the south and our basics are lard, cooking

oil and flour so you can deep fry everything lol now that we are vegetarian

a whole new culinary world has opened up lol

In my pantry, I keep a variety of canned and dried beans (pinto, garbanzo,

black, lentils black eyed peas, and kidney beans), several different kinds of

rice (brown, white, basmati, and risotto) and pastas. I keep lots of canned

tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato sauce too. I also have cans of coconut milk,

Thai curry sauces, and Asian rice noodles. I keep frozen corn, green beans, and

several meat analogs in my freezer. All of this is in additon to other basics

like flour, sugar, oils (canola and olive), and seasonings. I love having a

well stocked pantry. All I need to do is shop for fresh fruits and vegetables

and dairy products each week and I can create healthy meals without much

planning (and repeat trips to the store). A well stocked pantry esp. helpful

for us right now since our baby was born a week and a half ago and we are

currently snowed in.

Hello Heather.

I have compiled a basic pantry list and it is in

our files section. It is just a basic list that I use

for keeping a bunch of basic vegetarian cooking

supplies onhand. You can print it out and use it

as a shopping list, adding your own personal

favorite items such as spices to it.

Here is a direct URL:

Then just go to the folder titled: Kitchen Tips

In there you will find another folder titled: Pantry Lists

Hope it helps.
