Guest guest
Hello - My name is Diana and I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years now. I live in Kansas City, MO with my husband, four dog and two cats. I personally don't have any vegetarian friends and feel a little alone at times in my lifestyle choices. My husband is very supportive of my choices and is eats vegetarian when around me but is not a true vegetarian. So I thought joining a group would help me connect with other vegetarians and feel a sense of community even if it is on line. Diana
Guest guest
Welcome Diana...I am in St. Louis, Mo. I have found that being a vegetarian is such a satisfying feeling...I don't mind being in the minority. Just this lifestyle will cause others to be curious...and without saying a word, you will be influencing them...and perhaps lead them to the same satisfying lifestyle. I believe vegetarianism is growing rapidly...especially among children who are in process of forming their value systems. ________________________________ Sugartastic <dogmom0568 Wednesday, September 30, 2009 12:35:54 PM joining the group.... Guest guest
Hi Diana - Welcome!!! I don't have any vegetarians around me, either, and I have many people who tease and taunt me about it, so it's definitely great to find this group. I mostly read and learn since I've only been a vegetarian for about 2 years (5 for beef & pork, 2 for chicken & fish). I am vegetarian for humanitarian reasons, but I also avoid dairy when I can (for health reasons) and eggs (they suddenly gross me out). I've been married for over 32 years, and my husband has no problem eating my veggie cooking, but he definitely goes for the beef when we go out to a restaurant! And that's fine with me. I make eating decisions for myself because it's what feels right to me. I do not judge others. So why am I not extended that same courtesy? Guest guest
Hi Diana I don't have any local vegetarian friends either. I depend on the online blogs and this list to keep up to date on ideas and to keep inspired. My husband is also supportive but he is not totally vegetarian. I have gradually weaned him off most animal products but there are some he just can't resist. I'm fine with that as long as I use different pans and utensils for dealing with them. He thinks I'm nuts but that's the only way I can deal with m**t in my kitchen. I've been vegetarian for 19 years this month!! I was vegan for one year but slipped back to dairy products and eggs. I'm hoping some day to get back on the vegan wagon but I'm getting old and this present way of eating is more comfortable. I hope you enjoy being a member of this group Audrey Markham, ON Canada
