Guest guest
Hello Kim and welcome to our group! I'm Cindi, one of the owners. Feel free to ask us any questions you may have. Also we have quite a lot of recipes in our files at the group site. I have been vegetararian for over 2 years now. I also eat dairy & eggs. Do you have a particular weight loss program you would like to try when you are given the go ahead? I am currently doing Weight Watchers. This is my first attempt at losing weight and so far it seems to be working for me. It's really helped me focus on portion sizes and finding healthier recipes each week. Again, welcome! I remember thinking I could never live with out eating red meat, but when I'd made the change I realised I hadn't realy been eating it that often anyway. I did eat alot of chicken, and always loved fish, and pork as well. Well, after some searching on the internet, I've come to realise that I'm what's called a lacto- ovo vegitarian, at least according to one site. I've given up the fish now, but seriously doubt I can go with out my milk, eggs, or cheeze. I've felt healthier since changing my diet, and my weight loss program is soon to begin. I recently discovered that I'm doomed to begin physical therapy because of minor spinal issues. Of course the doc mentioned losing weight, which has been very real in my mind this year. I'm going to start an exercise program as soon as the physical therepist give me the go ahead to exercise and how best to do that. I'm excited about being in this group because I'm always looking for new recepies for my fiance and my self. I have one small cookbook, but it's pretty small. The other cookbook I have is rather confusing, at it's not been converted from metric, and the author talks too much about every little thing. I'm looking forward to exchanging recepies and learning how to cook with new foods. Kim .
Guest guest
Hi there Kim! I'm Whitney, I've been a L/O veggie for about 6 weeks now, and like you said, the change was so much easier than I could have imagined. One day my body said, " yano what? you're not putting that in here anymore " and I looked at my dog, and said to myself, if I won't eat my dog, I won't eat any other animal either. I won't draw that line anymore. And that's all she wrote! I haven't had 2nd thoughts since! I'm currently on Weight Watchers, trying my durndest to lose this weight ;0) Again welcome! Guest guest
Hi Krissie! I have the same problem with the sweets with my 2nd grader who is 8 years old. We have been vegan for the past several years. Usually what I do is talk to the teacher at the beginning of each school year and explain our diet (no meat and dairy). Then I give the teacher a box of snacks (like Fig Newtons or other treat) that is appropriate for my son, and that way when other parents bring sweets in for the class, my son can have treats that I brought for him. I wonder if that would work in your situation? Guest guest
Hi all! My name is Amity, I'm 25, live in northern Indiana with my partner of 10 years, Brandon, our 4 & 1/2 month old daughter Kaye Alice, two wiley pups dharma and zero, and roxy the cat and queen of the house. We have been veg for 4 years. I have been off and on veg my whole life. But will never be off again! I am super glad to have found this group not many people around my neck of the wods are vegetarian or truely understand what it is to be vegetarian. I am constantly being asked if I still eat poultry and fish, even by my own family. I am looking foward to learning from all of you. Hopefully I can be helpful too. Guest guest
Hi Amity! People here are a wealth of information and support. I live in Northern Indiana, too, so I know what you mean about not being around many vegetarians! Don't you love how people assume you eat chicken and fish? Kathy ________________________________ havingagreatfulday <havingagreatfulday Wed, November 11, 2009 8:13:52 PM New to the group.  Hi all! Guest guest
Hello Amity, that is a very pretty name. I am PT and one of the list-owners here. We are glad to have you join the group. Do check our recipe files out, they are great and full of tried and true recipes that the members have shared. Also if you get invited to join the group that Donna runs called vegetarian group, do join there as well; she has a great list of friendly helpful people. Together we host quick vegetarian: / and also vegetarian crock pot: / so those may be of interest as well. Thanks for posting an intro; I look forward to reading your posts. ~ PT ~ , " havingagreatfulday " <havingagreatfulday wrote: > > Hi all!
