Guest guest
Hello Forest Willow ~ You might consider 'The Master Cleanse' by Stanley Burroughs. It's based around fasting with a homemade organic 'lemonade'. I have the basic guidelines in a .doc file if you would like it. Guest guest
I don't think ordinary ailments disappear overnight just because I'm raw. I had a bad cold Mon., Tues., and Wed., but it's gone now. I still had great energy and continued to stay out doing all the things I do. That's the biggest impact to me about this diet, is the great influx of energy (and happiness) I get just from eating raw. But what you're describing could be signs of physical detox, depending on the person I'm sure for some it has to get a little (or a lot) worse before it gets better. That's just the nature of major physical and mental health changes. I've just been so happy on this diet that I haven't noticed and haven't really gone through any detox symptoms worth remembering or describing. I don't think I've ever had many headaches in my life regardless of how I ate, and I haven't really been nauseous eating this way. I can't imagine your not feeling better eating this way sooner or later, so I would say, it will just happen. Guest guest
Hi Gypsi, I don't think I had much in the way of detox symptoms really. One night, my sinuses stuffed up so much I couldn't breathe except through my mouth. That one lasted on a couple hours and then passed. No headaches or nausea or anything. I've had a few days where my morning urine smelled strongly, but for the most part even that's been fine. On the flip side, my other aches are subsiding. My neck and shoulders had been in so much pain, chiropractic adjustments did nothing and I couldn't turn to either side. In this last month, that's almost completely gone (and I stopped going to the chiropractor a couple of weeks ago). My back feels stronger, in spite of an injury that has caused me low back pain for about 21 years now. I'm also sleeping better. I still don't fall asleep " instantly " (as my DH does), but I fall asleep faster than before and sleep deeper. Off raw, I tend to be up every hour going to the bathroom, but this month, I've been able to only get up once at night, so my sleep is not broken up anymore. Guest guest
It all depends on you....its a very Variable thing, everyone has a different reaction to a radical change in diet, some experience Extreme Detoxs, Others its very Mild and all points in between, it depends on your age, how much ''crud'' is built up in your system, your current level of Nutrition, how much water you drink, if you exercise regularly, etc, We all go through a different Level Detox , there is no once size fits all Dave
Guest guest
i don't understand detox. going raw doesn't put any new or exotic toxins into the system, or at an alarming rate. what's left behind from pre-raw days will doubtless be dealt with as usual. a sudden influx of nutrition deoesn't seem like a reason for adverse symptomology. i understand that things like aspartane addiction change the playing field, so i'm speaking generalities here. am i wrong again? Guest guest
I know I went through a detox. I dont want to be crude. But due to my graves disease and all the meds I have to take for it, I suffer serious constipation and have for 3 years. Less than three days on the raw diet, I went through some serious detoxing and I still am. I have spent a lot of time in the restroom and I can see the changes in not only my system and have become VERY regular. But I have also noticed a serious change in my skin and color. My husband says I look healthier already! And I have noticed a lot of mental changes as well. It gives me hope and since I am feeling so good, it makes me feel like I can learn to live with graves disease and can still enjoy all the things I used to. There for awhile things were looking pretty grim, but I found eating raw and my body has already in two weeks changed drastically for the better. Not everyone will go through as much of a detox, it just depends on what kind of food life style you were leading before hand! But eating raw does clean you out, and frees you of a lot of build up in your colon! Sorry for the graphic details..LOL!!! But I believe in detox....!!! Just my humble opinion!!! Guest guest
detox for me, as far as i can tell, is the mental battle to let go of the cooked food addiction. it's so overwhelming that it seems as if there may be a physical component as well, although maybe not. it may just be the mental part is very difficult until i get used to be being raw again. there probably is a physical aspect to addictions like alcohol or drugs for example so it's hard to say what the full physical story is as far as the role it plays in oral intake change. as far as being wrong, everyone has a different opinion about this, so you'll be right with some and wrong with others. like i'm sure someone could get on here and wax eloquently about the physical aspect of food addiction in the attempt to go to raw from SAD. www.rawfoodeaters rawfood , The Wrong Hands <with_favas_bean wrote: > am i wrong again? > Dennis
Guest guest
i like the easy, clean bowel movements eating raw. just another reason why man is meant to eat that way. and of course, i get a nice skin glow eating raw, my skin even feels a little tingly to the touch eating raw, it's so alive. i'm not dropping a lot of weight this time like i have in the past, could be my 42 year old metabolism. since i've been fortunate enough to not get any serious illnesses yet and i simply feel so much better mentally eating raw, it's hard to say if there are any real physical aspects to the detox for me. rawfood , Sherry <dobeythehouseelf wrote: > > I know I went through a detox. > > I dont want to be crude. Guest guest
Can you post what you ate before you started the cramping and headaches? And what have you been eating since? Lots of rest and a water fast might help you get over it. Maybe three days? Tommie http://www.rawburchard.blogspot.com rawfood , " shoe_lover26 " <shoe_lover26 wrote: > > Please help!! Guest guest
Ginger works very well for nausea. A group of us just finished a supervised cleanse with the local yoga center.....We did raw leading into the Master Cleanse. The gal leading the workshop recommended sucking on a piece of ginger root or if you can tolerate it making ginger tea.....shave or grate some ginger, boil it about 10 min and then strain. Hope you are feeling better soon, Leslie
Guest guest
My middle doesn't want to shrink, either. I've lost some of it but not as much as other places. I'm sure if I continue to lose, it will eventually go. I do BodyFlex which has really trimmed and toned me and Lightning Speed Exercises (that's a perk of http://www.howtogoraw.com) and they've helped with my hips and thighs but that belly fat is stubborn! I'm going to check out the Try It exercises that were posted later here http://www.t-tapp.com/try/. They look interesting. Guest guest
Thanks, Mihoko, but I'll take the slower approach. I don't take supplements or laxatives, plus I " do " whole foods, not juices. I do exercise but I don't have anywhere I can walk and I don't have a rebounder. I'm getting my change together so I can buy a blender to have at work so I can drink my green smoothies throughout the day so buying a rebounder isn't an option. If I could break my addiction to EVOO, I'd lose the weight. You will be amazied by the results. Try it. > > Mihoko > > Product Specialist > NatuRaw Inc. > www.naturaw.com > > > jerushy1944 <no_reply > wrote: > My middle doesn't want to shrink, either. Guest guest
I ate way too much the past two weeks and some of it (okay, a lot of it) was highly processed, high fat and not all that great for moi..except for the dark chocolate - that's high in antioxidants, right? *sigh* Does anyone know of a great way to " detox? " Any good websites on the topic?
Guest guest
Detox is one of those words that I find everyone seems to have their own definition of ... But if you want to remove " toxins " from your body, well good news- your body already does that naturally. The organs most directly involved are your kidneys and liver. Basically the only way to truly " detox " is by consuming more antioxidant and fiber-rich foods (fruits, veggies, legumes, and teas; especially green and white tea) and less junk (hydrogenated oil, animal based fats, alcohol, etc.). Don't entirely eliminate fat, but only eat good fats (i.e., olive oil). Ideally you could try eating only organic food. There really isn't any trick to it: just don't eat the bad stuff and eat the good stuff. But whatever you do, don't listen to anyone who tells you to fast (see my post from Thanksgiving regarding fasting), or go in a sauna (when you sweat all you really lose is salt, potassium, and water). And please don't buy any of the over-priced snake oil products (i.e., detox food pads, colon cleansers, etc.)... There's just no scientific evidence that these things work and if you find someone who claims it made them feel better I'd give it a 99.9% chance of being the placebo effect. Guest guest
I agree with you Dave. I know so many people who have become I'll from colon cleanses, fasts and all these fads out there. I worked with a guy who would do all these extreme fads only to turn around and eat a Big Mac and fries lol.
