Guest guest
My baby (ok, she's 13, but she's still my baby) has a probable case of H1N1. I can attest to the fact that it not the worst virus I've ever seen. When I called our family doctor to see what the lastest protocol is from the CDC, she said that they are no longer testing for the virus because it is so wide spread, and they are no longer prescribing an antiviral because the bug is relatively mild and the side effects of the antiviral drugs can be really nasty. So I am loading her up with peppermint tea for her congestion, veggie broth with noodles and carrots, and frozen blueberries. Honey and cayenne for her sore throat and cough, acetominophen (sp?) for her general misery. The big problem is that she has finals next week and is wigging out about not being healthy by Monday. What are your best remedies for viruses? Thank you!! Robin
Guest guest
Sorry to hear that!! When my kids get sick like that I just let them rest A LOT (naps on couch, reading books in bed, watching movies). And I give them LOTS of liquids like water, homemade veggie broth (garlic!) and I especially boost the juicing of fresh organic fruits and veggies (if they can stomach it)....and fresh raw fruits and veggies. Also, keep up with the vitamin intake (green food tablets or Juice Plus if you have them). Good luck - I bet she'll be better by Monday! --- On Thu, 5/28/09, robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: robin koloms <rkoloms Oink! Guest guest
I am so very sorry. I hope she gets better soon. Contact her teachers immediately to let them know. Knowing how crazy schools are about this (our elementary school is HUGE and the attendance lady has to send reports to the health department daily since cases have occurred in the US), her teachers will likely send the finals home or allow her to take them when she returns. Best of luck! --- On Thu, 5/28/09, robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: robin koloms <rkoloms Oink! Guest guest
I heard that Tamiflu is made from a Chinese herb called Star Anise. I don't know if this website link will come thru (it's so long). You may have to go and search on the website, but here is some very interesting information on this virus. http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Newsletter%20-%20Swine%20Flu%20–% 20what%20youve%20not%20been%20told I hope she feels better very soon! There are also homeopathics available (may not be veg) which can help shorten the flu. Guest guest
Raw garlic. 1 clove, chopped. I swallo mine with a bite of food when I take it. I had a sore throat 3 weeks ago, ate 3 garlic cloves everyday and got better in 4 days. However, I learned later that you shouldn't eat more than 1 a day because it can lower your blood pressure and I already have low blood pressure. Hope she feels better soon. - Dawn robin koloms wrote: > > > My baby (ok, she's 13, but she's still my baby) has a probable case of > H1N1. Guest guest
The school reported three cases, out of 2000 (it is a 6 year high school); we know that the number is much higher. If I report it as H1N1 then she will have to be out of school for a week and finals are Monday-Wednesday. She is already starting to feel better; she woke up yesterday with a temp of 102 and 100.5 this morning. She is a bit perkier and is doing a bit of studying right now. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and well wishes. ________________________________ Cassie Dixon <roxy87cabriolet Thursday, May 28, 2009 1:51:02 PM Re: Oink! I am so very sorry.
