Guest guest
Do any of you give your kids a vegan Omega 3 supplement, preferably something with DHA? Do you just give an adult formula at a lower dose or do you have a product especially meant for kids? Our son is around 2 1/2 and I'm looking for something we can easily give him. I've been wondering about something like NuTru's liquid, which is something I could take too. Heather http://unsheeply.net

Guest guest
I have been trying to incorporate DHA into my 8-year-old son's diet. First I ordered the drops from Dr. Fuhrman's site. The problem is that they have a really strong smell (almost floral to me) so depending on what I add it to, he complains that it tastes funny. It also creates and oil slick (even after stirring it in) which makes him suspicious. Based on postings here, I tracked down a bottle of the gummie fish at CVS (out of all the bottles on the shelf there was only one without gelatin), but he does not like the taste of them. He's taking them now because he's a really good sport, but I don't think I can force another bottle down him should I be able to find one. I tried to get him to swallow the supplement I take, but never having done that before (kids meds are almost always liquid or chewable), he was in a panic that he would choke and absolutely refused. We even offered him $5 as in incentive, but he just calmly said, " I'm not your man. " :-) So, any other suggestions on DHA supplements would be appreciated. Centrum makes one for kids without fish oil, but they use gelatin - what is the point of that? Guest guest
Hi, Someone else mentioned that they do not like Dr. Fuhrman's liquid DHA, but I do because it is pure DHA, you can customize the dose, and they are very careful to keep it refrigerated before shipping to prevent rancidity. To me it has a mild lemony taste which is easily disguised in a smoothie if you don't like it. The dose for kids under 7 is only .25 ml. Good luck Jean
Guest guest
I give my 2 1/2 year old Spectrum Toddler DHA. I get it from drugstore.com, and always google to look for coupon codes for drugstore.com before ordering. I put the liquid in his cup of hemp milk and he always drinks it right up. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=204998 & catid=32480 & trx=GFI-0-EVGR\ -49973 & trxp1=10782 & trxp2=204998 & trxp3=1 & trxp4=31 & btrx=BUY-GFI-0-EVGR-49973 hth, Christina rkoloms Wed, 22 Jul 2009 07:10:46 -0700 Re: vegan omega 3/DHA for toddler My daughter takes hemp oil caps; I don't know if they are available in a kid size. ________________________________ Heather Clark <iris777888 Tuesday, July 21, 2009 3:28:24 PM vegan omega 3/DHA for toddler Do any of you give your kids a vegan Omega 3 supplement, preferably something with DHA? Guest guest
I just started giving my 1 and 3 year old Barlean's Omega swirl. It's made from flax oil, and has a smoothie taste that they both love. I give them 1tbs. I don't think this one has DHA, but I got it from whole foods and they have a good selection of omega supplements.
