Thanks for a neat question - I look forward to reading others' favorites!

Jean

My three favorites:

Eat for Health by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

Joy of Vegan Baking by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau

Family Favorites by me! Every time I make a " keeper " recipe, I print it

out, insert it into a sheet protector, and add it to my three ring binders.

That way I don't have to remember which cookbook it's from. I have a binder

for each category, like Main Dishes, Salads & Dressings, Soups, Desserts,

Breakfast, etc. One year I also had my top favorite ones printed and bound to

give to the extended family at Christmas :)

2. The Joy of Vegan Baking

3. Fresh from the vegetarian slow cooker

Bonus pick:

4. Vegan Express (I couldn't stop with three!)

I'm right there with you! I have one of those three ring binders and

it's filled with many of our favorites. Things I've copied, hand

written, etc. They are the best!

Hi Mikki,

Oh, my favorites are usually my newest ones. :-) But, the ones with

the most bookmarks, the ones I use the most lately are:

1. From Asparagus to Zucchini: A Guide to Cooking Farm-Fresh

Seasonal Produce, by the Madison Area Community Supported Agriculture

Coalition - meant to help CSA members know how to use their boxes of

organic veggies

2. Vegetarian Suppers from Deborah Madison's Kitchen, by Deborah

Madison

3. Vegetarian Times Complete Cookbook, by the Eds of Vegetarian

Times

And I often use basic/mainstream cookbooks for templates - like a Betty

Crocker book my mom got me before I moved out on my own. I use it to

find out what is the basic sauce for this dish or the basic ingredients

for that kind of bread - and then fix it up to be vegetarian or vegan or

low-carb or low-sugar or non-allergenic or whatever I need for a

particular gathering. I'm much more like an experimenter than I am a

recipe follower - so nothing I do is exactly by the recipe (other than

canning, which I've learned is a science for a reason - I mean, I didn't

kill anyone with botulism or anything, but when I learned about this

science stuff, I had to pour out many jars of organic sauce and

ratatouille just to be safe, so learned by that sadness). :-) So, that

is to say that nothing is by the recipe, so all cookbooks are new to me

if I just replace ingredients, add more of this, less of that - it's a

whole new thing the next time around. :-)

Happy cooking!

My 3 go to books

Veganomicon

Fresh from teh vegetarian slow cooker

Vegan with a vengence

I also have this tiny Vegetarian cookbook I picked up at a Michaels I

think and it's got several things in it that I really like. This is

the book my son just flipped through the other day and begged and

pleaded for me to make the Olive, Bell Pepper and Cherry Tomato Pasta.

:) Once we had everything, he helped me make it and he also LOVED it.

:)

Know I am late chiming in here but since these weren't mentioned I

thought I'd write in:

The American Vegetarian Cookbook from the Fit for Life Kitchen by Marilyn

Diamond - - like a " bible " totally vegan with great general info The

Dolmas are to die for

Tofu Cookery by Louise Hagler - everything I have ever made from this is

a hit. Great substitute for making filling for stuffed shells, manacotti,

etc. and Peanut Butter Pie (alas, I avoid eating soy so don't use it much

these days!)

Very Vegetarian by Jannequinn Bennett - - make the Good Morning Muffins

ALL the time

OK, so I can't stop at just three . . . I also love The Candle Cafe's

Cookbook and my kids would want me to vote for Vegan Cupcakes by Isa

Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero
