Guest guest
Have you guys seen this new lunch box?? I think it's SO CUTE and will make lunch time more fun. I bought it last week from reuseablebags.com but haven't received it yet. http://www.goodbyn.com/goodbyn/buy.aspx --- On Thu, 8/27/09, Laura Ballinger Morales <lballinger wrote: Laura Ballinger Morales <lballinger Re: Lunch packing Thursday, August 27, 2009, 11:09 AM I generally try to repurpose dinner (a day or two later) for lunches. If we have something like sloppy joes (vegan of course) I will save leftover filling. Warm it in the morning and pack with a bag of fritos, some vegan sour cream, some veggies (lettuce and tomato) and the kids love it as a travelling taco. I have lots of small containers I try to keep handy. I usually pack lunches in the morning. Although sometimes I get a head start in the evenings, I find it more difficult at night because I am tired, the kids are tired, the hubby wants attention... ...so on. Also for pre-packaged stuff (I try to use minimally but still find useful for those crazy mornings) keep separate containers of foods divided by kinds. Like one for dried fruits, fruit leather, apple sauce containers etc, one for granola or breakfast cereal type bars, one for veggies and so on. Then simply have the child help by grabbing one of each kind. Throw in a quick sandwich (yes you can make these ahead and keep a stash in the freezer), and lunch in a pinch. Guest guest
That is so cool. I can still do our laptop lunch menus. We've been using cheap plastic bentos from the local asian market, and I was just about to buy the vegan luchbox bento but i like these better. i love the way the drink container fits, and the entree section will actually fit enough food to satisfy. it will hold enough for all our homeschool and hiking days out. Thanks for sharing this. Guest guest
It's $30! Ouch. My daughter has two lunch boxes. One I got at an outlet store for like $3 and one I got at a garage sale for about .50 cents (both are soft sided/padded ones). I use re-usable containers to pack her sides in and wrap her sandwich in natural wax paper. Cheap and serves it's purpose... I love the metal bento boxes, but they are so darn expensive and I'm not so sure they keep things cold. And on the other end, I'm not up to wanting more plastic to encase the food in... hmm... Guest guest
It is very cute, but looks like a nightmare to keep clean. My daughter carries an insulated zipper bag in her backpack (machine washable) and I put her food in small tempered glass containers or (more often) a thermos, with the occasional wax bag. ________________________________ Denise Turner <deniseamay Thursday, August 27, 2009 11:53:30 AM Re: Lunch packing - CUTE LUNCH BOX!!! Guest guest
It's dishwasher safe so I plan on popping it in the dishwasher every night. I don't think it will be a nightmare to clean. Also, you can freeze the water bottle and it will keep everything cool. --- On Thu, 8/27/09, robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: robin koloms <rkoloms Re: Lunch packing - CUTE LUNCH BOX!!! Guest guest
I like that it's all one piece - we have one with different cups and I sometimes lose track of them. My son saw me looking at them the other day and he said he really wants one. I think I might pick one up for my niece for her birthday (October). She just started pre-Kindergarten,too. I don't think it's a full day, but I think it might still help them since both of her parents work (they both have varying schedules, too so each week is different - it works for them), so she will go from school to the nanny or whatever/however they do it - and I could see having it already set up/filled to maybe make things easier for them. Or when they go on trips/outings/etc they can put different things in there for her to snack on and all in one place so she'll have her special thing while they tend more to their toddler (my other niece who just turned 1yr old only a couple months ago). I think it would be a fun gift for her - and last a long time, too (I'm guessing you can change the stickers on it as they either wear off or if they take them off/etc since they give you 3 sets of stickers for it). I'm still debating with myself about getting the new Laptop lunch box/system (with aliens) for my son, and then I saw this one...and he saw this one, too. He likes his, but he also likes this. We can never have enough containers, and they do say it's BPA and phthalate free on their home page, so I'm fine with it (and they can also be recycled). So that's good for me. -m On Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 8:00 PM, Denise Turner<deniseamay wrote: > > > It's dishwasher safe so I plan on popping it in the dishwasher every night. > I don't think it will be a nightmare to clean.
