Guest guest
Turns out, Sigg did have BPA in their liners prior to August of 2008 (although they state that tests prove the BPA never leached). There doesn't seem to be a public announcement about it, but if you go to: http://mysigg.com/liner/ you can get all the info you need to return the bottles for replacement. Guest guest
Thanks so much for posting this! When we researched which bottles we wanted to buy I was against the Sigg bottles because they have a plastic liner. I can't see how that is safe or good for the environment. So we went with Kleen Kantene's (which we love). I'm going to pass this link on to others though, I know many have bought them! Guest guest
I'd heard about the liners, but not that they were having a voluntary exchange. Thanks! We have 3 that have the old liners, and my son's is rather beat up, so I'm happy to replace them! Thanks for the info! Guest guest
When I was deciding which bottles to stock for my business, I went with Klean Kanteen for the same reason. I've been very satisfied with the bottles we've owned for five years and as a business, I've been impressed with them for almost as long. Our local co-op stocks a cheaper brand which continuously tries to get my business, but I've had too many customers come and buy Klean Kanteens after the cheaper brand proved to be not as durable. No brand is perfect, but we are really happy with Klean Kanteen. Linda Http://triballife.net/ On Sep 3, 2009, at 8:28 AM, " Jacqueline Bodnar " <jb wrote: Thanks so much for posting this! Guest guest
Hi all, The " secret ingredient " in the Sigg liners never sat well with me, so we just bought other bottles that are totally stainless steel. We have Ecousable bottles, BILT (check the REI website or stores, they usually have good sales on these), and Foogo straw bottles (on sale on Amazon recently, not sure if they still are on sale). We also bought some of those cheaper brands available in the health food stores everywhere here - and the paint is peeling off now, so we use the others (all of which are okay in the dishwasher - a mandate around here!). Best of luck! Guest guest
As I think I've mentioned before, you should tell the retailer you bought them from and/or klean kanteen. We are extremely tough in ours and have never had them leak and the only breaking I've had reported from customers is the plastic lids when they were dropped on concrete the " right " way and I always replace caps for free is they break (rare, but it dies happen).
