Guest guest
Please Celebrate with me! This weekend marks my first vegan-niversary! I still have a long way to go but I am thinking and acting and making choices in the right direction! I am also influences others around me and my son is asking a lot of questions! It was a tough time last year moving beyond vegetarian to vegan as it is my son's birthday and Halloween and then we headed into the Thanksgiving-Christmas-Winter Holiday season. I am more prepared for it this year! Thanks, Danielle
Guest guest
Congratulations, Danielle! Just replace those old traditions with completely new ones or ones that are similar to your old favorite dishes. Holidays can be hard for people but being prepared will take you pretty far. By the way, I have a recipe for vegan caramel apples up on my Examiner page. It's actually a sticky vegan caramel that will adhere to an apple, which was the first time I was able to achieve that. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-23456-Chicago-Vegan-Restaurants-Examiner~ y2009m10d19-Vegan-caramel-apples-recipe May you have many more veganniversaries! Guest guest
Congratulations! It's sad that I've lost track and it's not been that long - I think this is right around when we went vegan too (only it was I guess 4 years ago! Whoa!). It gets easier every year and family around us have finally realized that it's not just a 'fad' or whatever and that we're serious about it. IT's actually gotten better just this last year, but the key is definitely being prepared. Congrats, Missie On Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 2:45 PM, Marla Rose <marla wrote: > > > Congratulations, Danielle! Guest guest
Mazel tov! Yes, the first year is probably the hardest. I keep lists/menus of what I serve for each holiday and whatever is a hit I use again the next year or find alternatives for things we didn't like. We've been vegan for 14 years so I pretty much have it down pat. Now I have my each of my kids pick a dish to help me prepare for every holiday. I hope someday they will invite me to their homes and they will be able to make our family favorites. . . . I know I'm dreaming here - - but that's what we Mom's do, right?
