Looking for Healthy Vegan Snack Ideas

I am looking for ideas for healthy vegan snacks to feed my children and to share

with other children as alternatives to the traditional unhealthy snacks,

prepackaged snacks. I've searched online for simple recipes/ideas but haven't

found any great sites yet.

For example, parents in my children's choir are required to take turns in bring

snacks for the children but I don't want to bring candy, chips, and jello as

snacks like everyone else does. My children feel left out because they don't

eat these things. I reward them with something special after rehearsal when we

get home, but it is still hard for them.

Thanks for any help!

How about Krispy Brown Rice balls? You can put vegan chocolate chips instead of

raisins to " appeal to the masses " since a lot of kids don't

like them (for some odd reason).

I've been making these latey -- they are good. To make them extra healthy (and

the kids probably won't notice) add ground seeds (flax, sesame, sunflower,

pumpkin, hemp, chia -- etc) instead of or in addition to the nuts. I also add

cinnamon. Yummy! I keep them in the freezer for a quick snack.

Don't try using agave nectar instead of brown rice syrup. I tried it and it

wasn't sticky enough!

Good luck!

These are a few snacks my kids love that most other kids would love to:

- whole wheat pretzels

- fruit kabobs

- fruit leather

-  dehydrated fruit chips

-  whole wheat crackers with a vegan spread (hummus, faux cheese)

-  fruit popsicles

-  fruit sauce pouches (look like little drink pouches but they are filled with

fruit puree)

-  my kids eat celery and carrot sticks but probably not that exciting

- homemade vegan oatmeal cookies or muffins (sweetened with apple sauce)

Good luck.  I commend you for bringing healthy choices to other kids!  I HATE

when other parents bring pure junk for my kids to eat!
