Guest guest
Just my personal preference, but it would be nice to have actual recipes posted not just links to blogs, etc. Sometimes it is difficult to find the recipe or the link is broken etc. I miss put on lots of reipes that I would like to see. Thanks...
Guest guest
Except posting recipes which are not our own is rude and disrespectful to the people who came up with the recipe. We should give credit where credit is due. Guest guest
Just cut and paste and make sure you get the entire link- sometimes when the sentence wraps around, half the link is on the second line. I agree it is very frustrating to feel like you're missing out on good recipes so I started a file (Files in tool bar on left) that has the chocolate smoothie recipe as well as the link to Michelle's blog. I include the blogs because often I find out new things from reading the blog or there's a story behind the recipe (as well as giving credit where credit is due). Guest guest
I actually posted about this a while back and provided feedback from cookbook authors. If someone posts a complete recipe with the instructions to follow it is a copyright violation (the ingredient list is not copyrightable, but the directions that follow are). People should take the time to go to the persons site or see the book to get a recipe. Otherwise you are doing a disservice to the blogger or cookbook author. There are some people who make their living coming up with recipes and putting out recipe books. To simply pass the recipes around is unfair to them. If there is a recipe you like online you should be posting the link to the recipe, not the full recipe. If there is a recipe you like in a book you should post the name of the book. This way you are not violating copyright laws and you are giving full credit to the author for their work. Jacqueline
Guest guest
Maybe I need to clarify my posting. I am not talking about not giving an originator of a recipe or book their due respect. My frustration is in seeing a recipe that I was interested in but the only way to find the recipe is to go to " that persons " blog. If it is your own recipe it would be nice to have it there here we can see it and then link your blog so we can go see more of your stuff if we want to. But forcing us to go to your blog, search through your recipes and read through your daily life story, just because we were slightly interested in a recipe you spoke of becomes cumbersome and, in the end, just too much trouble. Just to also clarify, I have bookmarked several people's pages, Jacqueline's included, for recipes and discussion....BUT...it is not something that is convenient/desired/easy for every single recipe. Just my thoughts...no big deal.
Guest guest
Great point, Jacqueline. The same rule goes for all articles (blog and otherwise) you find online. It's okay to post the link but not cut and paste the entire article into the message. Just thought I'd mention this as a friendly librarian (and vegan).
