Guest guest
Has anyone heard of the information at the link below regarding agave nectar? http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/03/30/beware-of-the-agav\ e-nectar-health-food-fraud.aspx I stumbled upon the information last week when looking for recipes that use agave nectar! It just goes to show that these food manufacturers are trying their best to lure us health-minded individuals to go for the processed foods. And the packaging of agave nectar fooled me!!! I guess the bottom-line is, we should consume more whole foods, the way they appear in nature, and eliminate or use in moderation everything else! Guest guest
It may be a scam, I stick with date sugar and molasses myself, but the less sweetener the better. I will just say watch out for Mercola. He is not what I would call a reliable source. Someone posted Jack Noris' site and find him quite balanced as is Dr. Greger. Guest guest
Hi all, Just wanted to second Linda's note about Mercola not being someone I follow the advice of (he is not always supportive of vegetarianism and his articles often support the use of the next big supplement he's selling on his website) - and Dr. Greger is uber-supportive of veganism and vegetarianism! He comes to our town every so often and does talks about the new issues/research in the nutrition field specifically for veg*ns. He also helped us via e-mail when we had questions about how much DHA I should take while I was pregnant, from what sources, and some other supplement questions. Great guy! I will have to look up Jack Noris, too!
