Guest guest
Hello all, I'm looking for soft soled shoes for my 18 month old. Isabooties are great, but not really suitable for walking on pavement. Has anyone tried Soft Star's vegan range or have any other recommendations? I'd be grateful for any thoughts. Kind regards, Pen
Guest guest
Hi Pen, I love soft star, we had the brown ones that are kinda furry inside and they were so great all winter, but I think the material they use is too hot for summer so I just bought a few pairs of baby style by jessica on etsy. the only problem with her stuff is the soles are not as hard as you may like (the soft star soles are better) and I find them a little slippery, but only on marble floors. otherwise I love them, they are cotton and nice and roomy for their growing feet. I have isabooties too, but I do not think they fit well at all so she almost never wears those. PLEASE let me know if you find anything else you like. best, elisa , Penelope Fishuncle <PenelopeFishuncle wrote: > > Hello all, > > I'm looking for soft soled shoes for my 18 month old. Guest guest
We had a hell of a time finding shoes for our son after IsaBooties weren't suitable anymore. Here's a big blog post I wrote about it a few months ago. http://unsheeply.net/?p=43 I got a comment on that post from someone that likes the Soft Star shoes but I've never tried them. Lately we've actually had the most success with inexpensive canvas shoes that you'd find at somewhere like Target or Payless. We've managed to find pretty flexible sandals at Target too that are non-leather, very flexible with velcro and grippy soles. I've just had to let go of my ideal that they are made by a company where can be certain of their ethics and who made them. For right now it's more important to me that they're not made out of animal than that they're made in China. Guest guest
We have always just bought all man made material shoes from places like Target or Shoe Carnival. They are inexpensive, which is nice, because they grow out of them fast. My daughter has been on a " Twinkle Toe " kick lately. They were $33, but are canvas and she loves them! Guest guest
Hi, this is just in responce to Heather. To avoid the wide variety of ethical implications around shoes, then head to a second hand shop. I get all my sons stuff at Op shops as i know they are ethical (and cheap!). I find its much easier to get kids stuff inc shoes as they grow out of them so quickly. I have had to buy my shoes from a vegan footware store though. Im not sure what the situation is like in America, but our Op shops are pretty good. Anyway best of luck.
