You can find many " cheese " recipes using the yeast flakes. Some use oats,

which I have replaced using brown rice. My family actually prefers it to the

oats. The yeast flakes give it kind of a cheesy flavor. I eat them on all

kinds of things like, spaghetti, just sprinkle it on or popcorn etc.

If you need me to I can send out a couple recipes tomorrow.

I would love to see some Nutritional Yeast flake recipes too. I purchased

some and I have no idea how to use them and I forgot why they are good for

you. Do you know why they are good to eat?

Thanks

Lisa

My favorite creamy sauce using nutritional yeast comes from The Gluten-Free

Goddess's blog. You can see the recipe here:

http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/2008/02/best-vegan-baked-mac-cheese.html

We make all sorts of variations of her recipe using different ingredients

that go well with a creamy sauce (everything from butternut squash with

sherry to rice and broccoli).

Honestly, when I first cut out dairy, I tried nutritional yeast and thought

it was awful. I think I threw away my first container. But it's funny what

time will do, and now I'll happily sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of it on

pasta and tomato sauce to serve as a Parmesan sub.

Nutritional yeast is a great source of B vitamins.

You can find the table of the nutritional content of Red Star
