Guest guest
The recipes posted on this list are great, but I'm curious about something. They also still have sugar and/or fat in them. Isn't the regime on McDougall fat free and no sugar? Guest guest
Hello there Connie, I'm not too sure about the McDougall diet but i think there are alot of sites that will give you information if you do a google search. This group is not specifically for McDougall dieters, although they are more than welcome. It is intended for anyone who is vegetarian or has an interest in cooking vegetarian food who wishes to lose weight. Maybe there are people out there who could help you if you want info? Anyone out there on McDougall? Laura PS. Thank you Earthylady for the lovely recipe! > " East Mts. Guest guest
While sugar can be left out, having some of the right kinds of fat in your diet is essential for good health. If you don't think that a particular recipe posted isn't right for you, don't make it. The way that you phrased your original question suggested that you thought this list was for McDougall dieters only... when she suggested "helping" you it was simply a kind reply that maybe you might want more information about that particular diet because of the way you phrased your question. Guest guest
Okay, but McDougal is NO fat, and the assertion that " having the right kinds of fat in your diet is essential for good health " contradicts McDougal. --- amurphey wrote: > While sugar can be left out, having some of the > right kinds of fat in your diet is essential for > good health. Guest guest
Sorry Connie. Think i got the wrong end of the stick with your email. I thought you were thinking of trying McDougall or something thats all. No offense meant. As for recipes with sugar/fat. There are a variety of recipes posted here, some with no fat or sugar and some with a little. Of course i agree with you that fat and sugar won't help you lose weight. But my diet, and perhaps others in the group too, aren't so strict that they don't allow any fat or sugar. So there are a range of recipes to reflect that. As long as the recipes are healthy and low in fat they are welcome here! Where possible nutritional info is also posted to help the reader make up their mind about whether to use the recipe. Hope this helps, Laura > " East Mts. Guest guest
But again, this list is not specific to McDougal. that sounds very unhealthy to me. Leaving any one of the food groups out never sounds like a good idea.. we need fruits and veggies, protein, fats etc... and I'm not just going but the food pyramid either. too much of any one thing can be bad... An all fat diet would be horrible for you, but some fats here and there is healthy. Allison MurpheyAdministrative AssistantPlanned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania(412) 434-8957 - East Mts. Guest guest
Having some fats here and there is not only healthy but a well thought opinion of most doctors and heath profession people... It not only my opinion. Fats had been proven to be important and this point can be backed up by many resources that I do not have time too look up this minute due to the fact that I am at work. If all you are going to do is argue please give it up... We don't have tolerance for that on this list. We've been through that once on this list already and someone was already asked to leave. It is fine to have your opinions just as I have mine but the argumental tone is really unwarranted. No one has attacked you here.
