Guest guest
Hey, I think I can't eat chocolate! Lovely...sigh. So this is probably grasping at really ridiculous straws here, but I know some of y'all have a bunch of extra food issues too, so I'm hoping someone might know. Is there any possibility of being unable to eat cocoa butter, but still able to eat cocoa in it's powdered form....or are they pretty much the same thing. Yeah, like I said, grasping at straws. I know it's the cocoa at this point, as I just tried some chocolate chips that were guarenteed to be vegan and gluten free, (instead of the normal ones that may contain traces of..etc). I had the marvelous reaction to stuff I really really should be leaving alone: getting a headace and being irritable and snappish at everyone for about an hour, and then becoming an emotional disaster and bursting into tears over stupid things, so there's definitely something wrong here. Yes, folks it's a party at my house right now, let me tell you In retrospect, this is perhaps mostly just a rant for the benefit of people who know what it's like. Thanks for listening y'all. Have a lovely weekend and watch out for those sneak attack allergies.
Guest guest
You could be reacting to the sugar instead of the chocolate itself. I've noticed that with me. Guest guest
Chocolate often also contains soy, and may be cross contaminated with nuts. Problems with either of those? If you are allergic to chocolate, I wouldn't expect you to be able to eat cocoa. Far more likely that you'd be allergic to the cocoa than the cocoa butter. Guest guest
I'm properly allergic to peanuts, and can only eat nuts in moderation, but I was careful with this chocolate and got stuff that was definitely free of that. Soy though... gosh I hope not. It didn't come up in my allergy tests when I did those, but I also have some intollerances that don't show up on that type of thing. I haven't noticed a problem with soy... gosh that would be really unfortunate. I sure hope not. Thanks for the idea, though. I guess I'll wait till I'm okay again and try to find out. , pdw <pdworkman wrote: > > Chocolate often also contains soy, and may be cross contaminated with > nuts. Guest guest
I feel for you. As a matter of fact, I currently have a " chocolate headache " . I do the same thing you are doing here. I keep looking for a way that I can still eat chocolate. I give it up and I feel so much better but for some reason, after I have been off of it for a while and am feeling good, I start to think, maybe I could eat it. I'm sure I won't react this time. I've never not reacted so I guess I just really love the stuff no matter how bad it makes me feel. Wish I could help but you are definitely not alone Renee
