Hello everyone.  We have a cookbook here in Argentina that has a

picture of some kind of fruit " candy " on the cover.  However, the

recipe is not in the book.  They look delicious though we would like to

try to make them.  I wanted to know if perhaps any of you have made

anything like them before (I am attaching the picture).  It looks like

maybe fruit juice with agar agar or corn starch, nuts and then rolled

in powdered sugar or some kind of cream.  Any ideas??

Thanks!

Here is what Bragg's had to say about it.

Thank you for your interest in Bragg Products. We do not add any MSG to our

products however there is natural occurring msg from the soybeans used in

our products, which may result in msg reactions. We apologize for any

inconvenience this brings.

As I understand it, you can't attach photos, Miguel. They don't come

through. You can upload them to the files of the group and send people to

those file, though.

I think it's to protect us all from corrupt files.

Did not see the picture, although I think I know what you mean. I make " fruit

leathers " and they are totally vegan. Start with apples or applesauce (the

pectin in the apples holds this together), use pears or grape juice for

sweetening, and then what ever else you want. Strawberries are good, or what

ever fruit is in season. I make one in the fall useing prickly pear juice that

the family LOVES.

Anyway, cut up your fruits, mix all together in a lrage stainless pot with some

enough water to cover, and cook. let moisture evaporate until its thicker than

applesauce. If you have a dehydrator, with fruit leather trays, spray with just

a touch of canola oil and then ladle out fruit and dry at about 135-145 degrees.

If you do not have a dehydrator, it can be done in the oven on a tray. You can

also use plastic wrap on the dehydrator trays or oven tray.

IF you don't use the apples / applesauce - when the fruit dries you will have

fruit powder which can be used as a sweetener.

Check this link and see if you can find what your looking for here. There

are tons of recipes, links to more recipes, probably find every candy known

in the world here! I'd start with the first link to popular and easy

homemade candy, as I would guess that would be the best bet. Hope you find

what your looking for!
