Guest guest
So often, I'm now using the flaxseed meal + water egg replacement that I've thought about making a large amount and storing it in the frig. I'm wondering whether anyone has had any luck doing this. Sort of the like the equivalent of having a dozen eggs in the frig. If so, how do you then measure it when taking it from the frig and using it in a recipe that calls for one egg (or more)? Thanks! Guest guest
This is exactly how we store ours. We keep it in a container and then measure out 1/4 cup for each egg. Four tablespoons equals 1/4 cup, so it's the same amount as if you were making an individual batch. It will last a week or a bit more. --Shawn - birdwoman5151 Saturday, April 04, 2009 2:38 PM Storing flaxseed meal + water egg replacement in frig So often, I'm now using the flaxseed meal + water egg replacement that I've thought about making a large amount and storing it in the frig. Guest guest
I put my flaxseed mix in little containers and freeze them. I pull one out each week to use in baking and let it thaw in the fridge. --- On Sat, 4/4/09, Shawn Vogt Sween <shawn_vogt wrote: Shawn Vogt Sween <shawn_vogt Re: Storing flaxseed meal + water egg replacement in frig Saturday, April 4, 2009, 4:19 PM This is exactly how we store ours. Guest guest
Grind 1 part flax seed in your blender. Add three parts water and blend. Store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator. 1/4 cup equals one egg in a recipe. --Shawn - kate_mumofthree Sunday, April 05, 2009 4:22 PM Re: Storing flaxseed meal + water egg replacement in frig Could someone please give me the recipe for this. Guest guest
Kate, You'll find flaxseed is called linseed in Australia (although the oil is called flaxseed oil). Guest guest
The flaxseed mix being referred to here is the ground flaxseed meal mixed with water, is that right? Is it 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal to 3 tablespoons water? Any special mixing technique, or just mix and let stand till it's a " gel? " Thank you!
