Guest guest
I really appreciate all the feedback I've been getting on mixers and have been having fun doing the research. So far, it's down to the KitchenAid Artisan, the big Costco KitchenAid, and the Bosch Compact. This is the result of my research so far: Most people love the Artisan and the colors are gorgeous, but a lot of people have trouble with the mechanical parts in the newer (recent decade) machines. KitchenAid has the market share on mixers and they sell a huge amount; I don't know the proportion of people that has problems. Also, there isn't much room to add ingredients without lifting the beaters. The Costco one doesn't have all the pretty colors, but it's bigger, same price, and has the Costco warranty. The Bosch Compact is significantly cheaper and I don't mind the smaller size. Cooks.com gave it an ok, but said the beaters hit the bowl when removing it and it tends to leave a dry unmixed spot in the middle. And I can't find anyplace to actually touch it before I buy. That tangerine color is calling...... Thanks all. Guest guest
I find that you can't beat the dough hook on the KitchenAid mixer! It makes great pasta & pizza dough. That dough hook alone was worth the money, because I used to throw GF dough out when it didn't work before getting it! Guest guest
Nancy I have the bosch universal kitchen machine and it works great. There is a bit of a hassle cleaning the center but if I use the dishwasher or run water thru the center to make sure no dough is left in it and make sure I let it dry right side up there is no problem. I usually only get dough in the middle with large recipes( more than 4 loaves of bread). I use the cookie paddles for the gluten free bread instead of the dough hook. I have never had trouble with the dough hook touching the side. Price when I was looking in Canada was 20 dollars more than the kitchen aide and since I like to do 6 loaves of bread(wheat) at once I went for the big machine. Gluten free bread I usually only make 3-4 loaves at once. Hope this helps Lynn
