Guest guest
I guess there are subs one could use for the parm and the mozza, but as it stands this recipe isn't vegan. Also it's really hard to find a good pizza dough recipe that is GF. We had a nice one until Miss Roben's went out of business in March. sigh BL On Sat, Jun 20, 2009 at 10:35 PM, Jasmine Joel <jasmine_joel_60wrote: > > > > > HTML clipboard > > A very original recipe for pizza. Guest guest
Hi group, I apologize for passing this recipe along to the forum. I didn't scroll down far enough when approving messages and I missed the dairy ingredients. ~ LaDonna ~ , Jasmine Joel <jasmine_joel_60 wrote: > > > > HTML clipboard > > A very original recipe for pizza. Guest guest
There are vegan cheese alternatives available. This recipe is easily convertible to vegan by using vegan cheeses. I use Follow Your Heart Vegan Mozzarella style and Vegan Topping Parmesan style. If you can't have soy, there are almond cheeses that taste really great. I actually prefer the taste and texture of the almond cheeses but they don't agree with me for some reason. Recipe sounds great! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely give it a try with my cheeses! Guest guest
My husband and I like both the Bob's Red Mill gf pizza crust (which we make with egg subs) and the thin-crust recipe from the cookbook The Gluten-Free Vegan. Guest guest
I get the mix from Gluten Free Naturals which is really good. I've also gotten Dad's Pizza Crust which was ok. Guest guest
Looks like this will only help folks in N. California and N. Nevada. But it's a a great product for those who can get to it. Their bread and other products are great too. Guest guest
Unfortunately it costs too much to send all those mixes across the border and I live in the far north of BC where I don't have access to alot of mixes. It's scratch for us or nothing :-). We also have to worry about more allergies than gluten, so it makes it more complicated. I appreciate all the answers though. Guest guest
http://www.bookofyum.com/blog/the-vegetables-you-love-to-hide-zucchini-crust-piz\ za-flatbread-466.html This is for a zucchini pizza crust you can play around with. The recipe is not vegan but I did play with it before and subbed the eggs and used soy cheese. I think I used a little agave for the eggs if I remember correctly because I was out of everything at the time. Flax jel would probably work really well. It's unusual but good! Guest guest
Thanks Jae. I will have a look. I don't use alot of flax gel as it seems to cause me problems, but I do use a vegetable puree and chia seeds usually successfully for replacing eggs. Guest guest
Do keep in mind the rice cheese from that brand has casein, the dairy protein, in it. I can't even have the vegan one (soy protein, maybe? I can't remember why). I know not everyone has the same restrictions as me, but I've met people who've regressed because they didn't realize that fake cheese would have cheese proteins in it! Guest guest
Thanks, so much, Sally, for this info. I'm trying so hard to get this right. Call me a newbie - I surely feel like one even tho I have tried to eat vegan for a few years. Never could get it down and people like you help to realize why. Guest guest
as I'm sure we all know, read the labels. some of the rice cheeses do have casein but some do not. ddp
Guest guest
If the packaging says " suitable for vegan diets " or has a kosher pareve marking there will be no dairy proteins in the product. If it doesn't read the label carefully as it likely does have casein or whey. BL On Mon, Jun 22, 2009 at 6:03 PM, D GRADISKA<allegria47 wrote: > > > Thanks, so much, Sally, for this info.
