Guest guest
Yes, I follow that one too. Since it is bento, it tends to be more rice-based than gluten-based, so lots of the ideas work. And she doesn't get crazy-cute! Pam On Fri, Jul 10, 2009 at 10:47 AM, weisabunny7<carishe wrote: > > > Hi all - > > Wanted to share this blog! Guest guest
Pam With Lothlan going to a private school in the fall, I am looking at the bento boxes and thing this would work for his lunches (vegetarian only foods at this school). Any idea where I could get them in canada without ordering from the US. Ebay prices were crazy. BL On Fri, Jul 10, 2009 at 11:20 AM, pdw <pdworkman wrote: > > > Yes, I follow that one too. Guest guest
Brenda Lee, in the past Jennifer gave a source for one (or more) of the bento-style boxes she uses on her blog. If you check her archives, you should be able to find it. I don't know if she has a Canadian source or not --- but of course, Pam might! One can always hope. . . Guest guest
We ordered one years ago for my dd when I got into this blog., which is really fun. It's called a " Laptop Lunch System. " Affordable and worked well; just didn't last and we only hand-washed it; not in a dishwasher. Just my 2 cents! --- On Fri, 7/10/09, Gracious Hospitality <gracioushospitality wrote: Gracious Hospitality <gracioushospitality Re: Vegan Lunch Box blog - best ideas EVER! Guest guest
Thanks LaDonna I did check the link for bentocrazy and the had several reasonable items, but nothing that the school would find acceptable or that was boyish. I would like one of the ones with lids, but not for nearly $50 US. With the current exchange rate that's just too much for a style product we haven't tried in his first year in a private school instead of homeschooling. He's used to fixing his lunch when he feels like :-). I like the bento box idea though. It keeps things organized plus Lothlan really does love sushi, especially avocado roles so why not a bento box. Guest guest
I looked at those too Mary, but starting price was about $45 US which makes it closer to $55 Cdn. They looked great and I especially like the lidded container, but that's just not practical for us. I was telling my husband about them because some of them look like an executive carrying a laptop computer case and he thought that was cool because, well he's a computer technician but just not in the budget for now. Guest guest
Ah, I see somebody already mentioned these! As far as how well they hold up, we've had ours for three years, and wash the interior boxes in the dishwasher, the outer cases by hand. So far, we have a small crack in the edge of one box lid, but everything else looks almost new. We have the black nylon cases to go over them.Kate --- On Fri, 7/10/09, Mary Williams-Pepin <calimaryvegan wrote: Mary Williams-Pepin <calimaryvegan Re: Vegan Lunch Box blog - best ideas EVER! Guest guest
Do you have dollar stores or discount stores in Canada? Here in the US I have seen similar boxes in some dollar/discount stores. They are not as nice (no cartoon characters or fancy designs) but just as good functionality wise. Something to check out if you can! Guest guest
I don't know of anywhere that carries the laptop lunch, but I have found Japanese-style bento boxes in a few places. We have an Asian mall with a T & T Supermarket, and there are two stores in that mall that sell bento boxes. One is a kitchenware store (with lots of other cool supplies, bento and otherwise) and one is a sort of Japanese tableware place (wooden adult bentos only, no kids ones). Our health food stores occasionally carry bento boxes as well, but it is hit and miss. Look where they have their stainless steel water bottles. You can also do bento without any special supplies. Divided plastic dishes, regular plastic bowls with or without artificial dividers like bento grass, bigger plasticware with smaller containers inside, etc. Pam On Fri, Jul 10, 2009 at 12:50 PM, Brenda-Lee Olson<shalomaleichemacademy wrote: > > > Pam > > With Lothlan going to a private school in the fall, I am looking at the > bento boxes and thing this would work for his lunches (vegetarian only foods > at this school).
