We are taking my son to Magic Kingdom Friday and I am wondering if

there is anything in the park for him to eat. I tried looking online

but cannot really find anything. I figure we will just pack lunch

and go to the parking lot, but am wondering what about snacks. I

heard the park is really cracking down on people sneaking in food, so

I am hesitant to try to get anything in but maybe some obvious

toddler treats. Anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,

Susan, when we went to WDW I spoke to a woman who deals just with

special diets. She was very happy with us bringing in our own food.

We found it almost impossible to eat counter service food.

they do sell fruit all over the park.

Contact the special diets person and have her email you the list of

safe foods in MK.

I found this link for you

Hi,

I've been to Disney Parks a number of times (mostly Disneyland in California)

and have had some luck finding food.

The most recent trip was the most successful. We found a food vendor in

Adventureland--I believe? The one with the " Indiana Jones " ride ;) - which

served a grilled veggie shish-kebab, which was really quite good.

My daughter, who is vegan but not gluten-free, found a soft pretzel that was

vegan. Also plenty of fries and fruit salad.

Plus, we " smuggled " in food, as well and the checked our bags on the way in,

but didn't say anything.

Food is super pricey, but you could always try one of the sit-down restaurants

in the park; they seemed very accommodating.

Hope this helps, good luck and have lots of fun!

I always go to Guest Services and explain our food allergies and our food is

always allowed in...sometimes the park will even store it in a special place

(refrigeration)!  we save lots of time having to go in and out of the park...

Shez,

Thank you so much. Don't know why I couldn't find this, but thank

you so much for the link. I called and left a message tonight so

hope to hear back. Also good to know that I will be able to bring in

food - smuggling snacks just doesn't seem fun :) Also good to know

about fruit being sold all over the park - I thought I had remembered

that but I have not been in almost 10 years.

My son was almost 2 when we went there (this was about 4 months ago) and I

explained he can not eat gluten though they barely even searched our bag. (and

when I said this they just said ok and let us go) The only thing I remember he

was able to eat in the park was fresh cut pineapple by the carribean area. I

would bring your own food and water even(if you guys are specific to certain

water like us) , I don't think they will fight it if you let them know, they

have nothing to suit us / our kids needs.

If you speak to the chef at the eating places( not just restaurant but the

places that have the already preped food,) they are very accommodating. They

even have gluten free buns now but you have to ask for it. All of the chefs

and head cooks are extremely knowleageable about gluten free and try hard to

please. I have an extreme diet and need to avoid many items. The chef came out

to talk to me and served me the best meal I had had in a long time and it was

just one of the regular fast food places. I felt very special. I hope you have

the same experience.Becky

The special diets person will not e-mail you the food list, as it

changes on a daily basis and would be out of date by the time you got

to the park. When you arrive at the park, then go to guest services

and ask for the special diets list. It will list gluten free and

vegan separately, but you can figure it out. When I went to Disney

last year, the gluten-free buns, etc. were all vegan as well. The

list will tell you who to talk to or what request to make when you

arrive at each restaurant or eatery.

There wasn't a lot of selection, but enough to get by on.

You can take food into the park with you, and if it is questioned,

simply explain that you/your child has food allergies and is on a

special diet. They will allow it in.

I just went to Disney last winter and I was told that if you ask in the main

street area of the park they can provide you with lists of foods that are OK for

any allergies or eating preferences. They have to be able to cater to all kids.

The sit down restaurants also can accommodate if you call ahead. I know Tony's

restaurant has gf pasta.

Hi,

when we went it was a real struggle. None of the fast food was GF. They have

fruit stands but no other GF snacks. Plus BION it depended on which chef was on

that day for the restaurants, one chef at Cinderella's castle had GF/V rolls and

falafel, but two days later when we went back a different chef had no interest

in providing it. He gave us a plate of raw veg. I would take your own food, if

they try and take it off you, ask them where you can eat.

We have season passes to Disneyland, so we've been there a lot with little

kids. My kids are allergic to wheat, eggs, dairy, and peanuts.

In our experience, they are more than happy to let you bring your own food.

There is a picnic area provided near the front entrance to Magic Kingdom,

where they anticipate that people will picnic with their own food.

When they look in your bags at the entrance, they don't mind food or drinks

in the bags. It seems to be more of a cursory search for weapons or banned

items.

We do always bring our own snacks, but there are quite a few things there my

kids could eat. One treat we've discovered is the Minute Maid frozen pink

lemonade. While it's not health food by any means and has a lot of sugar,

it's now colored with beet juice, which means my kids (who are also

sensitive to dyes) can finally share a frozen treat. It's one of the

highlights of their visits now.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I emailed the dietary department

and they sent me a quick list of GF vegan food that they have

(almost) all the time at restaurants. She also gave me great info on

which restaurants would be great for having a special meal prepared.

We ended up bringing food into the park - which they checked our

bags, but I told the security guard we had food sensitivities and he

said " No big deal - I wouldn't take your food. " We did buy some

fruit which was at several locations throughout the park. It was a

great visit - and I really appreciate all the advice - especially the

link to the special diets department. Everyone at the park was very

helpful and so understanding too.

Thanks again!
