Guest guest
Because folks in this group are so knowledgeable and aware of ingredients and foods and reactions to offending ones, I'm wondering what everyone's ideas/opinions/policies are regarding swine flu, and the vaxxes? Has anyone here contracted the flu yet? And, if you are a nursing mom, will you still nurse if you are infected or if babe is? How about school-aged and college-aged kids? Any ideas or thoughts you have would be much appreicated. I'm trying to garner as much knowledge as possible to make wise decisions. Very helpful. I have another one for you. My husband has a number of food restrictions. He cannot eat gluten, dairy, corn, onion, avocado, peanuts or tree nuts. Tomatoes and citrus only in very small quanities. Same for flax and gf oats. Very little (if any) garlic. No dried fruit. Beans give him not only gas, but the runs. I'm going to work on the long soak, and a few spoonfuls a day, but for now, we can't count on beans for anything. Garbanzos are the worst. Hemp is massive expensive, but he can eat a little of it. Tofu is fine, but one can only eat so much of it, ya know? Do you all have any ideas for good filling foods for him? The other thing is that I'm having trouble finding lentils that aren't produced on the same line as gluten grains. I'm in Canada. Any ideas? And finally, not a question. A little happy story to relate: Last night a couple we know came for supper. I always worry that people won't like our food and that they'll ask where the main course, i.e. the meat, is. Last night, I was serving wild mushroom stroganoff on herbed mashed potatoes with asparagus and sesame oil. Just before we were to sit down for supper, my friend (who didn't know our food restrictions except for gluten) said, " I'm glad I mentioned we're vegetarian now " . I blinked and said, " Um, you didn't mention it! " He was stunned. We're their only other veggie friends. Shannon
Guest guest
Our closest state university has 2,000 cases of swine flu --- with school being in session for only two weeks. It appears to be highly contagious! Fortunately most cases have been " mild " --- whatever that means (no flu is fun). ~ LaDonna ~ On Mon, Sep 7, 2009 at 5:49 AM, Mary Williams-Pepin <calimaryvegan wrote: > How about school-aged and college-aged kids? > Any ideas or thoughts you have would be much appreicated. Guest guest
I'm included to decline vaccinations whenever possible, as in this case. They have risks and self-effects, just like any drug. Some of the risks/negative reactions are much worse than the illness they are designed to prevent. This is a website about the risks to children specifically. http://vran.org/ Here's an article that may help bring the panic into perspective. http://www.examiner.com/x-6495-US-Intelligence-Examiner~y2009m7d7-Swine-flu-Vacc\ ine-risks-and-dangers Taking good care of ourselves and our families with high quality nutrition, fresh air and moderate regular exercise, plenty of sleep, reducing stress and engaging in frequent hand washing with warm water and ordinary soap still seems to me to be the safest protocol. I recently read this from Dr. Jay Gordon about flu and vaccinating, and thought it was helpful: http://drjaygordon.com/development/news/h1n1update.asp I also asked the members of my household to read the following, about using a neti pot and also Dr. McDougall's comments about swine flu. http://yogaopentip.blogspot.com/2009/07/swine-flu-avian-flu-and-neti-pot.html http://www.squidoo.com/easynetipotinstructions http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2009nl/may/swine.htm http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2009nl/jun/fav5.htm he has changed his recommendation regarding fever reducer/pain medicine Karen
Guest guest
I am a nursing mum. If I get the flu, I will still nurse. If baby does, but I don't, I will still nurse. I won't be getting vaccinated. I also have a three year old and a fourteen year old. I simply don't trust vaccinations. I blame them for a number of problems my older two kids have. Guest guest
Flu vaccines are based in egg. Even if you have a mild intolerance to eggs, if you get a vaccine you will be sorry! I let the doctors talk me into getting one about 7 years ago when I was still really weak and sick from the start of my pancreatitis ordeal, which probably made it even worse than it may have been otherwise. Anyways, I was sicker than a dog for nearly a whole year! I seriously thought I was going to die it was so bad! Then the doctors advice was eat chicken soup! The eggs didn't kill me so the chicken can finish me off? I don't think so! Honestly, I've never felt the same since that ordeal. I imagine it was similar to what an aggressive cancer feels like. It was the scariest thing I've ever endured! Would not recommend it to my worst enemy! I know so many people who are healthy, no allergies, etc that got so sick from vaccinations and I knew one kid that died from them! They are dangerous! Eating gluten is safer for you! (Don't put yourself through that, I'm just making the point of how bad they really are!) Autism is linked to vaccinations in some children also! I would not let a child be vaccinated against anything! Declare it against your religion if you have to, anything to protect your children! More people die and suffer excessively from vaccines than they do from a flu! Wash your hands frequently, take lots of vitamin C, drink some echinacea tea, put some menthol essential oil in an oil burner, try yoga or pranayama to boost your immune system. At the first sign of cold or flu I start taking vitamin C and drinking tons of water and echinacea tea and that typically kicks it out of my system within a day! I keep up the routine for at least a week to make sure it doesn't come back.

Guest guest
Just came across this info about that new nasal flu vaccine and thought you may like to read about it. Here's the link: http://www.vocalpoint.com/FluMist/index.html It mentions eggs and gelatin~shouldn't use if you have sensitivities!
