Any suggestions for special foods that are camp-friendly?? Vegan ice cream is out of the question!? lol! Could I make one of those betty crocker gf cake mixes in a dutch oven?? Guest guest Posted September 17, 2009 Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 You can bake them in a dutch oven--be mindful of cook times, they may change in a dutch oven--if you have a large metal tub to put the coals and dutch oven into to cook it will help maintain a constant temperature. How about in a sandwich maker (toast over coals) you place a brown rice tortilla wrap filled with fruit (depending on the fruit--berries need some sugar to start mascerating and apples or other fruit may want some cinnamon/sugar or lemon to prevent browning), use earth's best as your medium to prevent sticking or banana boats if you can find vegan marshmallows and the special chocolate chips (vegan, dairy & gluten free)---slice banan lengthwise--fill slice with marshmallow and choc chips, close and wrap in foil and put in hot coals for 7-10 minutes--very delish! You can even make pies in a dutch oven--lots of possibilities!
