Guest guest
Okay, I must have missed the asparagus patties. They sound like something I would love. Would someone please post them again? Thanks, Tracy
Guest guest
Can you tell me if the cashew nuts are ground down, and also if a small quantity of Vegemite or Marmite can be used instead of yeast flakes, as I haven't a clue where in the Uk I could get yeast flakes. Guest guest
Yes I would think a little bit of vegemite or marmite would be good in it. BTW the full name for yeast flakes, is Nutritional Yeast Flakes and you can only find them online or in health food stores here in the states. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps & field-keywords=nutritio\ nal+yeast+flakes I have a bag of ground cashews that I use in the gravy, but I think that you could use regular cashews. If their are still a few bits of the cashews in it, it would taste good and give it a little chewiness. If you have a Vita-Mix or something like that it works great for making this. It is so powerful. You could also pre-grind regular cahews in a food processor into bits. Guest guest
I halve this recipe for 5 people and also add a little chicken-style stock powder. For Christmas I process all the ingredients the day before, ready to cook on Christmas morning. Cashew Gravy Source: Country Kitchen Collection 1 cup cashews 5 cups water 1/4 cup cornstarch (cornflour) 1 1/2 Tbsp (4 1/2 tsp) marmite (check ingredients for GF)(-OR- Vegespread) -OR- 1/4 cup GF soy sauce 2 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/2 to 1 tsp salt 1. Blend smooth all ingredients with 1 1/2 cups of the water. 2. Add remaining water. 3. Lightly boil, stirring, until thickened.
