Guest guest
Danielle, when you say you didn't like the taste of " legumes " , what does that word mean to you? To me, " legume " refers to the whole family of beans and peas but I believe it has a different meaning in the UK and France. Deborah Deborah, I don't do well with peanuts, either. I get a major case of the " abdominal itchies and red patches " . I tried legumes once. Didn't care for the taste. I do not recall having any reactions other than, " I don't think I need to make these again. " I seem to be fine with chickpeas - so far. I don't eat them very often other than the rice and chickpea recipe in the files. I top the cooked rice mixture with the marinated and cooked tofu cutlets from the files. Guest guest
I think she might have meant lentils; not sure. Guest guest
I don't like most legumes of course it depends on how they are prepaired. I love chickpeas, peanuts & peas, which most people around here don't even realize they are legumes! Legumes are typically thought of as the ones labled as such in the store typically in the world foods section with Indian foods. I do like Indian food, however I do not care for those legumes prepaired in any other way! So I understand not caring for the taste. Try some Indian cusine and you may find them much more tollerable with all those herbs & spices. If you don't like um no matter how prepaired, well there are plenty of other good foods on the planet! ;-) Deborah Pageau <dpageau Wednesday, November 25, 2009 11:28 PM Re: legume Danielle, when you say you didn't like the taste of " legumes " , what does that word mean to you? Guest guest
Your right they are lentils I was talking about. I've seen them labled as legumes. It all gets very confusing! Especially here in the US there really doesn't seem to be any clear classifications of foods! We are still arguing about tomatoes being a fruit or vegitable! LOL I'm too tired to think anymore. I'm going to rest my brain for a few days. Hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend! :-) pdw <pdworkman Wednesday, November 25, 2009 11:53 PM Re: legume I think she might have meant lentils; not sure. Guest guest
Ooops. I was thinking of the package labeled, " lentils " . Gets confusing sometimes. Yes, legumes are a whole family of foods. The only one so far that seems to affect me is peanuts. Sorry for my confusion.
