Guest guest
Hi everyone! I've had to eliminate corn from my life, which seems even more impossible than gluten did! I'm getting a headache just trying to sort through all the labels and find safe products! So I've come to the group to ask the more seasoned members here if there are any safe: pain medications ketchup sour cream alternatives cream cheese alternatives hemp milk rice milk I think that's all I really need/want to get me through the next few weeks. Medications being a priority as I don't trust the doctor to really know what is safe! I really love chocolate hemp milk, but I could live without all of these foods if need be! Thanks for any help in figuring this all out! :-)
Guest guest
check out this site: www.cornallergens.com/products/corn-free-medicines It has all the info you will need -------you will be amazed at what has corn or a derivative in it ---see attached partial listing. You can do it - just make a list of the items you CAN HAVE and go from there. Eating low on the food chain as vegans do will be helpful to you. Arrowroot and tapioca starch can replace corn starch in cooking/baking. Guest guest
I know Heinz ketchups differ between Canada and the US. Here, the regular Heinz 57 does not have corn syrup, but I believe it does in the US. Heinz has some " organic " variety that is free of corn syrup. There are some ketchups at my health food store that are sweetened with agave. I don't really use any sour cream or cream cheese alternatives. Tofutti was okay for a while there, but then they changed their formulas. You can make your own with nuts, seeds, tofu, etc. Ditto hemp or rice milk. While it's a bother, you at least know what's in it! Go to your pharmacist about the pain meds, they can tell you better than the doctor what is in them. And if necessary, they should be able to tell you where the nearest compounding pharmacist is who can mix you up safe meds.
