Guest guest
Yes, Laurie, you recall correctly. Our culture trains us to identify our goals and then evaluate in terms of what we have not yet done. This can be constructive, to a point, but it can also lead us into a very demoralizing exercise in futility. Such is the nature of " To Do " lists. In contrast, a Done list accumulates what we HAVE accomplished. We focus upon where we began, rather than upon our goals, and notice how far we've come. This can be a wonderfully uplifting experience!! Best, Elchanan _____ rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Laurie Swanson Thursday, July 12, 2007 6:20 PM rawfood [Raw Food] Re: How to cut a mango.... Kerri, I see what you're saying. And I know what you mean about those little things feeling so good. This also reminds me of something--I think it was Elchanan who suggested to me to make a " done " list (E, correct me if I'm wrong) instead of a to-do list. I did it for a few days and it was really nice to reframe things. I realized how much I was accomplishing (vs. measuring myself against what I hadn't done yet). Guest guest
Elchanan, Sounds good and all, BUT.....how can you do a " done " list if you have not started yet? Seems like you have to do a " to do " list before you can do a " done " list. If this is not correct, would you care to explain it to me? Thanks, Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one. Guest guest
Jeannie, THINK!!! Are you saying you have never done anything at all? Of course not. Find something you HAVE done that you value, and put it on the list. Then add to that as you go. Just do it, don't think about it. Guest guest
Elchanan, Ok, now I'm confused. First you tell me to THINK..................then you tell me not to think about it. Which is it going to be? Well, no, I am not saying now, nor did I say on that post that I have NEVER done anything. duh! What I did say is that, it seems like you have to do a " to do " list before you can do a " done " list. The reason I am saying that is....... Looking forward, not looking back. Ok, never mind.................I'm going back to my room. Jeannie your time is the most cherished gift of all, tomorrow is promised to no one.
