Guest guest
HI All, I was wondering if it's a good idea to clean fruits and vegetables with BioKleen or other organic produce cleaner. I usually use all organic fruit, but at times I get some non-organic produce such as pineapple and watermelon and mangos.. I was also wondering if organic produce should be washed with cleaner just in case there are SOME pesticides on them. I have read that even organic produce has been known to be found with chemicals and pesticides on them. Thanks, Lynne > . > >
Guest guest
Maybe use Grapefruit Seed Extract? I don't like using cleaners like that, and don't. I love GSE! In laundry, too. :-) Finding fabulous fares is fun. Let FareChase search your favorite travel sites to find flight and hotel bargains. Like ozone, it kills disease organisms by oxidation! end quote read more here (its a very short page) http://www.h2o2-4u.com/house.html neal. Guest guest
And be sure to use the food grade peroxide. Not the common peroxide sold over the counter. Food grade peroxide is usually sold in health type stores and is kept in the fridge. I can't find a local place here in england so I get a 9% bottle and make up my own solutions. Food grade (35%) is definitely the best if one is consuming it as an oxygen therapy. This too has to be watered down to 3%. There is a too HydrogenPeroxide/join yet another absolutely wonderful gift from nature (by the simple action of sunlight on water) that has SO MANY DIFFERENT applications. why do you think birds like a bird bath? It helps them control parasites because of the h2o2 content. I wondered for years why my cats would never drink the tap water I put out for them, but would go and drink from muddy rain water puddles, til the penny dropped. nature is wise. neal. Guest guest
ERica, I read the ingredients in Biokleen, and GRapefruit Seed Extract is one of the main ingredients. All of the ingredients are derived from fruits - no chemicals at all. That's why I purchased it. I would never buy a produce cleaner that had chemicals in it. Did you mean to just buy grapefruit Seed extract? Thanks, Lynne > > Maybe use Grapefruit Seed Extract? I don't like using cleaners like > that, and don't. I love GSE! Guest guest
BioKleen is loaded with what are basically digestive enzymes. It makes a GREAT cleaning product ... but perhaps not for food! Guest guest
Well, it DOES say that it's good for hand washing, and since I keep it at my kitchen sink, I HAVE been using it for that! Guest guest
Oh, I meant things like floors, sinks ... inanimate objects. No idea what it might do to living tissue (regardless of what it may say on the bottle ... that's rarely worth the ink on the package). Guest guest
Old school warning: Used to be that folk used baking soda to remove pesticides from organic produce: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baking_soda I used to do it but have long since not, mostly because I couldnt find any info on whether this was a valid practice or not. Reading the wiki above, I see no mention of cleaning organic produce, but it does say its used in the making of crack cocaine. Ya' never know what youll learn on wikipedia! .... Guest guest
That is good to know. For it is much easier to come by and cheaper. But the over the counter type of peroxide has chemicals and preservatives in it. So it would seem you would just be washing off one chemical and replacing it with another.
