Theresa,

I hope you saw my post above for " newcomers " (if you are). Otherwise, PLEASE

know that MANY - actually, THE MAJORITY, of rawfoodists get their health back

and experience the benefits of raw foods eating (what most still acknowledge as)

healthy garlic and peppers (although Elchanan is right about the green ones,

some still do eat them, of course, and we CERTAINLY eat red, yellow, " hot " and

all the other varieties - the benefits of cayenne are inmeasureable!) Please

don't feel as if you have to give all of these foods up to be " healthy " or " raw "

- neither is actually true. Don't listen to everything everyone tells you,

including me. The best thing to do is to really stay open and to take from a LOT

of sources, not just one school of thought.

Theresa,

That " spice of life " ...

Think about the phrase. Doesn't it refer to stimulation outside the

norm?

Sometimes it may be used to indicate variety, but I think the variety

pointed to is the stimulating.

I'm interested in the discovery of what life is without all the

distractions and entertainment.

To me, eating garlic, cayenne, green pepper, unripe fruit is a

distraction from the taste and sensual experience of the harmony that

nature provides without us making the smallest request. So when I am

at a friends house and the salad has salt or garlic in it, I can't

taste the vegetables. When the fruit has honey or oil or salt on it,

I can't taste the fruit.

Perhaps this is a normal continuation of my choice to stop being an

active alcoholic. In that moment I chose a new life. One that will

experience life as it is without medicating myself - or stimulating

myself - away from it's raw nature.

I've heard the suggestion from others here to just try the experiment

of not using salt, say, for a month. Then try it. I know very few

people who have gone back to salt eating after they discover the

actual taste of food during that month and then experience the

" pollution " of that taste by the salt. The same experiment can be

done with garlic, pepper, green peppers vs. red or yellow, unripe vs.

ripe fruit, etc.

Be well!

And of course, nature provides us with great variety and the capacity to

appreciate variety.

Hi, I've been off the salt for 4 weeks now I did go from salt to sea

salt and now no salt and I don't miss it. I'm using herbs for now.

fresh one because that is what we have lots of.
