Try about 1/2 to 3/4 cup agave instead of 3/4 cup of dates or 1 cup maple syrup. I found 3/4 cup agave nectar to be close in sweetness (though different flavor). I'll try it next time - it's sure to be more expensive (maybe not than dates, but more than maple syrup).
