Guest guest
Erica, What would happen would depend largely upon the nature of the " money " we all choose to use. Really? How so? I'm not sure how that would be the largest influence on society if everybody was alkaline, healthy, well-rested, etc. I think it would matter more on what our values are. Money is nothing, really. We put the value on it. We decide that strippers should be paid 10x what teachers do. We get what we pay for.... Guest guest
Hi Erica, Just wanted to chime in here and say that, based on things I've seen Elchanan say before, I believe here he meant that right now the money we use hardly serves us (in fact keeps us " down " in several senses), and that in a better world, the " money " we use would be something more useful to all people, not necessarily (and hopefully not) money as we know it today. As in, things would have certain inherent values, all costs, inputs, and outputs considered, and so perhaps fresh, ripe, organic (or better) fruit would have a higher value than a green piece of rectangular paper with a dead president on it. As a rambling elaboration, I can see two ways (I'm sure there are more) to the world you describe where people are healthy, " alkaline, " pain-free, balanced, etc. One is if the people themselves create it, which necessarily means they put a value on it and thus also probably value related things like health for the environment, social health (liberty as well as service to others), and the like. In this world, I think " money " would be like the example above, where a piece of fruit or land could be seen as more valuable than paper. The other way I can imagine this happening is as in some Brave New World scenario where the government steps in and mandates that people eat and live a certain way, and we may all be healthy and youthful, but only because maybe the costs of creating a new human (including the years it takes to grow to become a workable age) are more than the costs of maintaining a present worker. In such a case, though, I imagine whatever money is used would not be something valuable to the well-being of a human, but probably something more contrived like, um .... BTUs of electricity of something Tra la!
