Guest guest
Dear Elchanan and everyone: A recent study on worms found that decreasing glucose extends life span. In addition taking anti-oxidants to destroy free radicals reduces it. Evidently free radicals are designed by nature to have an important function! Not good news for vitamin companies! But keep in mind that the study was on worms. Elchanan, since you are a heavy advocate of fruits and the (80/10/10) diet, comments from you would be appreciated. I love grapes and oranges and sweet fruits but they are very high in sugar. If decreasing glucose extends life, would increasing fruits shorten life? I am framing the question in this way only to clarify the central point. http://www.cellmetabolism.org/content/article/abstract?uid=PIIS1550413107002562 Hope you are all well. I am enjoying the discussion and learning much from you all. I follow a yogic sattvic diet as much as I can which consists of fruits, nuts, vegetables, some soymilk (for my chai (indian tea) and some eggs now and then. Namaste and love to all Harsha P.S. check out my recent entry on on Krishna as a leader if you are into Eastern philosophy. I have been experimenting with raw diets for the last 30 years and went to Hippocrates Institute in 1980. They are heavy on wheat grass juice and vegetables but not too much into fruits. Anyway, after three weeks on their diet, I felt really superb. I love fruits too. Harsha
Guest guest
If glucose shortens life span, it might help to eat sweet fruits along with good fats (pureeing sweet fruits with avocado, for example), to slow down our metabolism of them. Guest guest
" If glucose shortens life span... " It's funny - one of my best friends has done many raw and health certifications, and watched every video and read every book, pretty much, on the topic. She is at Hippocrates Health Institute doing the 10 week Educator's program right now. She is definitely being taught that. Since she's met Graham many times and can see he looks older than his years, which is contrary to many raw-foodists, this explains that aspect to her. Hippocrates offered to pay for Grahams $500 B12 test they are so sure he is deficient, but he refused. The crowd applauded when he was offered, though... I asked her why Norman Walker and others have succeeded combatting cancer with stuff like carrot juice, considering that it is high sugar, and why Hippocrates would be against it since it works. She asked Brian Clements, who is very involved with scientific research, and this is what he said: " I did ask him that. Carrots back when Norman was doing it were 50% to 80% less that todays. Also fruits today are not tree-ripened so they overwork the body. As far as Graham's book goes in terms of reversing candida on fruit, or what people are saying they did, they didn't have it, it was something else... " - that is the observation I came to, too, and posted---I just feel that as long as people correct whatever it is, who cares what it was!
