Guest guest
Tim, Yes, I understand, the symptoms you describe are very real and also not uncommon (not universal, either). The INTERPRETATION of those symptoms is a different matter, and I'll post on that sometime soon, I imagine. Just have my primary focus on other things right now. For now, I'll just suggest to you the possibility that hair loss, for awhile, does not occur in a vacuum. In other words, other things are happening throughout your entire system at the same time. And these are good things, mostly invisible to your conscious awareness ... though they not seem so " good " for a bit. And yes, I agree, not genetics. There is a great deal of confusion over the difference between what is hereditary and what is actually caused by genetics. Almost nothing that is said to be caused by genetics is actually caused by genetics ... and during just the past few years, finally a FEW scientists are beginning to " discover " this. And that is another story for another day, perhaps ... all about the human genome project, the resulting emergence of a new branch of research called " epigenetics " , and more. Have a great day! I developed an interest in raw living and at one point spent a month at the Hippocrates Health Institute in '77 (while it was still in Boston) and then continued " raw " for a few years. For years following this I ate according to Macrobiotics. The issue of hair loss was of interest to us guys back then as it was very apparent that it increased among those who were eating raw but did not increase among those who were eating according to Macrobiotics. In fact, in Macrobiotics they discourage the eating of raw foods because they consider them to be excessively " yin. " And they even commented, back then, on the increased hair loss that this could lead to. Soy products were considered to be in the same category. As I previously mentioned, it is clear that much can be simply attributed to genetics. I have pictures of Paul Bragg going back to his youth and it is evident he never lost a significant amount of hair. Tim

Hi all, Rather than wait with bated breath for Elchanan to put forth his knowledge on epigenetics, you could always check out the Nova segment of last week on the topic: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3411/02.html -Erin http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog http://www.vegandonelight.com
