Guest guest
Yes, I've written about this topic several times, in the archive. And this " admission deficiency " at our hospitals, which you describe, is not for lack of documentation ... of this we can all be certain! There is not even a diagnostic code for a systemic protein deficiency. Now, given all the diagnostic codes that have been created, if there were any way someone could have created one .... And yes, before someone jumps in about " kwashiorkor " , I know. This diagnosis was created in Africa in 1932. At first, it was thought to be a label for protein deficiency. But upon further examination, is really just another name for " starvation " . When someone is starving to death, of course they are deficient ... in everything. What is the first " standard treatment " for kwashiorkor)? Carbohydrate. Why? The body cannot process proteins (or anything else) without energy, which comes from fuel. No machine can do anything without some source of energy. Generally speaking, eating is all about refueling the system. If we can internalize this basic idea, then the rest becomes much easier, because we can let go of all those topics that only serve to defocus us. That eating is about refueling this is why fruits, filled with glucose and fructose (a.k.a. " fuel " ) work so well for us humans. Our forebrain creates fuel requirements unlike those of any other animal on the planet. In addition, the vast majority of micronutrients we require travel in water. And the few that travel in fat are present in the fatty content of fruits and green leaves. I am aware of no exception to this statement ... and I realize that it is a strong statement to make. I cannot remember at this moment who is the most recent person to bring up this protein discussion here. The discussion originates circa 1947, when the animal food industry group, fearful following publication of a European (Norwegian as I recall) study directly linking increased consumption of animal foods with increased death due to heart attacks/heart disease. This is the time frame when the so-called " food pyramid " was invented by the food industry and peddled to the Food and Drug 'em Administration. If you focus on protein, you'll miss the mark by a country mile. No one here has a protein deficiency. And while I'm at it, I'd venture to speculate that no one here has a fat deficiency either. And yet, many people may be dehydrated and, in general, malnourished. Why? As I said above, most of the nutrients we require travel in water -- in high-water-content foods. And most people consume far too few high-water-content foods. This is not a " school of thought " , it has nothing to do with " natural hygiene " or raw food or any other specific viewpoint. I mean, even the U.S. government, as backward and barbaric as its health-related recommendations typically are, recently increased its recommendations for daily consumption of fruits and vegetables. Rather, if you simply take a list of the micronutrients we need, you'll readily find that almost all of them travel in water. That is, they travel in fruits, green leaves, and vegetables. And because most vegetables are high in starch, which we do not digest well, we are left with the rather straightforward conclusion that the nutrients we require are most readily available to us, as I say, in fruits and greens. Eat this way, eat a fruit meal following every period of physical exertion, and you'll have all the protein you require. It is interesting to note that in the US total hospital admissions for anything related to a lack of protein, as long as records have been kept are ZERO. There is way more protien in a good vegan diet with plenty of leafy greens than your body can possibly make use of. So don't worry about it and eat your spinich.
