Guest guest
The statement about Ann Wigmore, below, it both correct and incorrect. It is correct, in that Ann taught much about fermentation for many years. It is incorrect, in that, learning along the way, she really withdrew from the fermentation practices later on in her teaching career. So when you buy and read her books, many talk of fermentation. But later on, she learned the truth. She began increasing the fruits in her program, eliminated the fermentation. She kept the wheat grass, but she was clearly moving away from some of the sprouting and germinating, particularly of lentils and such. She moved away from fermented foods because she began to realize that these were not, in fact, causing health; health was occurring in spite of these " foods " . After all, knowledge does progress over time. Very few rawfoodists ingest ferments. Where does everybody get theirs? <http://geo./serv?s=97359714/grpId=5520395/grpspId=1705015482/msgId =35692/stime=1193692685/nc1=4025304/nc2=4725795/nc3=4840954>
Guest guest
Darn, I just recieved my copy of the hippocrates Diet today and Ann is telling me to eat loads of sprouts, rejuvelac, sauerkraut. Where can I get the updated info? I guess it was working back then so probably would now. But I would still like to be privy to the new opinions about fermented foods. Esp because they are a pain to make. Katya. Ann taught much about fermentation for many years. Guest guest
I have also heard this, that Ann Wigmore's diet got simpler as she progressed in her journey. Dr Flora, who knew Ann personally, said that towards the end of her life, she wasn't consuming wheat grass any more, that it was just used for sick folk. Ann was eating a lot of energy soup though. The Hippocrates is an excellent transitional diet. What makes it transitional is that you need to eat some cooked foods to be healthy on their food choices. This is a given, as Brian Clements recommends 20% by volume cooked foods and 80% by volume raw foods. But if you look at the percentage in terms of calories in a diet like this, it can 20% volume of cooked rice can easily be 80% of the calories in your diet, as sprouts and wheatgrass don't have that many calories, and sweet fruit it totally not recommended in the Hippocrates diet. For people who want to include healthy cooked vegans foods in their diet, this is an excellent way to go. But for people wanting to eat 100% raw vegan, if one goes uses the recommended food choices from Hipprocrates minus the cooked starches and cooked foods, they will find themselves eating a 60% fat or higher diet.
