Yep, it is true. I have a son with Autism and mercury is a contibuting factor to

his disease. They are also linking Alzheimers to heavy mertal exposure. Our doc

asked me if I had amagam fillings and at the time I had 8 from when I was

pregnant (baby was getting tons of mercury??). Since I found that out I have had

all but 2 replaced. i would recommend replacing ASAP!!!

Just a little note: You don't want to replace amalgam with amalgam. Amalgam,

by definition, IS the stuff that has the mercury. A lot of people are having

their amalgam fillings replaced with porcelain. I believe there are other

options as well.

Thanks for the info!! What did you have the fillings replaced

with? Did you use a holistic dentist?

other 2 cavities were filled with the white composite, luckily.

I think it was my first cavity from 19 years ago that was filled with

the mercury based filling.

I realized I used the wrong word after I wrote that post - I

couldn't think of the correct word for the " white " filling.

I had the fillings replaced with composite. I did not have a holistic

dentist. They put a dam over my mouth and it was very safe to remove

and then replace. My thoughts are if it is bothering me and it will

not hurt me...do it!!
