Guest guest
Food ideas: Bananas!!! (buy by the case to save a bit of money. Search out " overripe " bananas to save a lot of money, if you wish to invest your time in this way. Dates!!! (order by the case direct from a grower) Persimmons!!! (in season now) Apples!!! (in season now) Pears!!! Citrus (in season now, though I realize yours is imported. But yours is probably imported 365 days/year, or nearly so) Yes, I would prefer food from California over poor food or no food. I realize this is not a perfectly " green " choice. Yes, your body warms itself during activity. The point is to maintain activity over time, to build better circulation and respiration. Creating health takes time, and for many people, the body can take a rather long time to readjust thermal regulation. This is particularly so for those who continue to eat salt, spices, dehydrates, etc. These work against effective thermal self-regulation. After activity, drink some very warm water, keep yourself warmly dressed. I have observed that some people strip off too many layers too quickly upon stopping vigorous activity in a cold climate. Interesting example: remove gloves but keep on high-quality glove liners. I have a pair that my partner Laurel uses at times. She always says, " Oh, that won't help " but it always does! :) This is very much about improving self-awareness, as well as learning a few " tricks " and such. Acting 3 minutes earlier than you have in the past can make a huge difference. Also, I cannot overemphasize hydration. If your anything is chapped or dry, you are at least somewhat dehydrated. If you are overfat ( " overweight " ), then you are always somewhat dehydrated, 24x7, so drink plenty of water. (Em, I realize this one does not apply to you.) I do dress warmly to STAY warm. I do want to bring up at this time that here in New England it is pretty slim pickings for raw food-greens So i guess my next question is what do New Englanders eat for raw food in the winter? Apples, pears nuts or is it ok to eat produce that has been shipped in from california? Em
