Guest guest
-oh dear bacchus no yellowstone(and other national parks) are in danger of being " loved to death " ... yellowstone gets MILLIONS of visitors every year... think of all all those gasoline belchin winnebagos.. all those folks create a lot of watse, trash and pollution as well.. people trample sites, harrass wildlife, etc granted, yellowstone is a beautiful place, but, it is being horribly over used we went in the fall, off season, and there were still ALOT of people around...the most popular destinations (old faithful and such) will have hundreds visiting at any one moment....in the summer, it gets much worse now..snowmobiule travel in winter causes its own disaster.. snowmobiles are VERY polluting, the valley gets filled with smog in winter from all the exhaust(the valley and the cold just let it sit there)..the snowmobiles are loud..and, face it, people can be jerks and luv to bug the bison, elk(wapiti) and other critters.... and, with the current admin, things are only gettin worse...they want to privatize almost all the jobs, they want more " concessions " (snack shops, gift stores....) last year we went to the grand canyon, and i was amazed at how much it had changed..just beyond the park boundaries were big ol strip malls and junk shops.... not to long ago, some politicians literally said that the national parks should do m ore to get folks to come and have fun..like bringing in RIDES!!!!! *shakes head in disbelief* fraggle -- In , " Heartwork " <Heartwork@o...> wrote: > I always thought of Yellowstone as being wild and unpolluted! > > Jo > > > --- > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > Version: 6.0.522 / Virus Database: 320 - Release 29/09/
Guest guest
Hi Fraggle Never saw it in person, but would prob hit tears if I saw it in winter then. Ya know, we have so little left on this earth that is " untouched " . How they can even consider things like this is beyond me. nikki , EBbrewpunx@c... wrote: > wots even better..the " new " class of snowmobiles about to be released are > even more polluting!!! > > ya really have to see yellowstone in winter, just to vomit over all the > pollution that hangs in the air, the rangers wearing masks..i wonder if they hand > those out to the bison as well >
Guest guest
Hi Jo It was and should still be. Unfortunately as you add more time, visitors and events to the surrounding area, everything gets tainted. Seems we no longer know how to preserve things and enjoy them at the same time. nikki , " Heartwork " <Heartwork@o...> wrote: > I always thought of Yellowstone as being wild and unpolluted! > > Jo > > > --- > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > Version: 6.0.522 / Virus Database: 320 - Release 29/09/

Guest guest
Hi Jo >> Seems we no longer know how to preserve things and enjoy them at >>the same time. You said it perfectly! Stonehenge is another one that upsets me too. They have to block it off so no one desecrates it, but than those of us who could really benefit from it cannot get near it. It's unreal how we humans act now-a-days. No common sense. nikki , " Heartwork " <Heartwork@o...> wrote: > It is a sshame.
