Guest guest
Hi, I am Herbvalerian, from Tyneside, UK. I have been Vegan for about 2 and a half years now and I am just getting into smoothies made in my blender. I do a lot based around apples and soya milk, but I was wondering if there was a way to include more rew veg. I have tried apple with cooked beetroot which is nice. I have also done wild blackberries but there are too many pips! Any ideas, paricularly with fruit and veg common to UK, would be much appreciated. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi, I haven't got a juicer, its blender ideas I am looking for really. It is a fairly simple jug blender with a grinder attachment. Thanks, , " Heartwork " <Heartwork@o...> wrote: > Hi > > My favourite is just apple and carrot in equal amounts with a stick of celery all juiced - it is lovely. > > Jo > Hi, I am Herbvalerian, from Tyneside, UK. I do this one in the morning.
Guest guest
Hi, I have also done them with tofu and bananas and ground flax. I put ground sesame in too. I was partly because I realised I was not eating enough fruit that I got into the smoothies. We have a goverment campaign here called 5 a day, which encourages us to eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day. When I added up what I was eating I realised it wasnt enough. It is easy to get more fruit in your diet if you do fruit smoothies. But I have been mystifiied by the US recipes that call for Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate. We dont have frozen fruit juices at all in the UK. As far as I am aware anyway. I only shop at the Co-op, Iceland, Lidl, my greegrocers, and health food shops. They may have it in the bigger supermarkets. I dont like the biger supermarkets as I believe they gobble up all the local shops and I get too tired just walking round them. Also they are usually in hard to get to places and I havent got a car. , " tiffinooshki " <tiffonie@h...> wrote: > I have a major sweet tooth, so this is my favorite: > > 1/2 pack soft tofu (best if its cold) > 5 frozen or fresh strawberries > 1 medium banana > 1/2 cup frozen OJ concentrate > 2 tbsp ground flax seeds > 2 Ice cubes > > I dont really know any with veggies. Guest guest
You can just use orange juice. The concentrate is just colder (being frozen) and doent thin the smoothie. Maybe if you made some OJ ice cubes and then left out the regular ice cubes it would have the same effect. We have the five a day thing here too. I never manage to get all my veggies. Pretty ironic for a vegan. I do try to get a serving of raw veggies every day though. I found this pretty cool site with tons of vegan regipes and Im going to try some of the veggie recipes. vegweb.com you may have already seen it. Guest guest
There used to be a frozen orange juice in the UK but I'm afraid I can't remember what it's called. But next time you're near one of the big supermarkets, have a look in the freezer... (Unless you *really* can't/won't!)
