thats a really informative book.

as fer a list of companies and the like..the one problem with that is, things change, constantly..wot was once vegan one week, won't be the next...you constantly have to read ingredients, even on stuff yer use to (unless it sez vegan in big shiny letter on it, and even then....) er yer gonna get some nasty suprises...companies change formulations all the time...

then there is the whole GMO factor in processed foods as well...ickle!

I'm new to the vegan life, so I'm getting used to label reading and I

have a copy of Animal ingredients from A-Z ( but alas, not the

chemistry degree needed to understand it). Is there a list somewhere

of products that are vegan? For example, I have a recipe for pumpkin

pie that needs 2 vegan pie crusts. Where could i find out a national

brand (i'm in the US) that is vegan? Hey, maybe all us US vegans

could get together, pool our resources and start a web-site " the lazy

vegan's guide to grocery shopping " Heehee

Hi Sara, welcome to the vegan life, what brought you over to the vegan life? I agree we need a grocery shopping guide, not because we are lazy but because we are frustrated and time crunched. Reading labels is very time-consuming, and like you said it takes a chemistry degree to understand. I used to be a caregiver for a lady with diabetes & did her grocery-shopping. It took me hours to read all the labels to make sure there weren't ingredients she couldn't have. I believe in this day of computers & technologies, it shouldn't be that hard for grocery stores to be able to hand out at the door, store guides for finding products for people of special diets. ara <chrisandsara wrote:

Hi,

In the UK we have the Animal free shopper, published by the Vegan

Society. It

contains some international stuff too.

Some supermarkets provide a vegan list for own brand goods.
