Guest guest
TOASTY BROWN GRAVY 1/4 cup flour (60 ml) 1/2 cup nutritional yeast (for example, Red Star Vegetarian Support Formula) (120 ml) 1/3 cup oil or melted vegan margarine (80 ml) 2 teaspoons soy sauce (10 ml) 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (2 ml) Hot water as needed In a small frying pan, toast flour and yeast over high heat until mixture starts to brown and develops a toasty aroma (approximately 4 minutes). Stirring vigorously, add the oil, soy sauce, and pepper to make a smooth paste. Slowly add water, stirring, until you arrive at the gravy consistency you like. Cook for 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serve hot. , Anne <anneharper@e...> wrote: > Anybody know of a good one? > > Hi, by the way, I'm Anne, I live in Portland, Oregon. Guest guest
Hi Anne! Road's End Organics makes mixes for vegan gravy. I've had their savory herb and the shiitake mushroom gravy - both are good. Food Fight (the vegan grocery store at SE 41st and Division, next to the Kalga Cafe) carries them.
