My father is a Chiropractor and we hardly drank milk. My mother couldn't nurse so most of us had goat milk for the first year or so. Had strong bones and never got sick. If you are going to drink milk that is going to do more good than cows IMO. But I've found that the dark leafy greens are suppose to have a great source of Calcium. Problem is for WIC and things like that they see one glass of cow milk equals about 10 cups of broccoli for calcium so they assume you get more calcium from the milk. They don't realize that the Calcium in cow milk has a different molecule and isn't absorbable by humans. Some countries actually believes it leaches our calcium. So smaller quantities in Veggies is okay because it's absorbable. It's Quality not Quantity :-) Don't mind my ramblings. I hope I don't offend anyone. I'm not Vegan or Veggie yet but considering it (one tiny step at a time though) I don't care much for meat though so that helps. Plus soy milk has a much higher protien content than cow's milk and is cruelty free. -john
Guest guest
leafy green veggies like kale, broccoli etc are good sources...nuts and some seeds(sesame, brazil nuts, almonds)...figs... So how do you get an infant to do weight bearing exercises? I tried soy with one of my children that couldn't nurse and that didn't go over well. I have a hard time taking soy. It effects my thyroid and makes me feel sick. Certain soy products and powders would make one of my babies projectile vommit (sorry for the graphics)

I always thought you should nurse for at least the first year and not introduce solids till about 9months so wondered what you do if you have a problem nursing? especially newborns.
