Certainly it's a drop in the bucket, as you say. I can only think of the Farm Sanctuary people and what it will mean to them... at the end of the day alas, the cow still dies... Guest guest
I don't agree. The law is being passed purely to build confidence in people that eating meat is safe. The vast majority will breathe a sigh of relief and continue as before without giving it further thought. It could be termed a minute victory by animal welfarists, but its effect will be nothing more than a drop in the ocean as far as animals are concerned. And the band plays on. Dave ----- Original Message from Sun Music ----- If I understand the news correctly today, there is in the US a federal law being passed, or passed today, which will prohbiit the use of downer animals for food. This is a victory (if I understanding correctly) for our side.

Guest guest
Yes, almost always it does. Throughout the US (I do not know if these exist in Europe, though my guess is that they do), there are Farm Sancturay groups which actively pick up downed animals and take them to sanctuaries where the animals live out the rest of their natural lives in peace and comfort, as loved individuals. The percentages are miniscule, of course, as you point out. EBbrewpunx wrote: In a message dated 12/31/03 5:56:43 PM Pacific Standard Time, sunmusicstrings writes: Dave, I am sure you're right.
