find out where they are coming in and block the entrances..

i know, keepin ants out is like keepin out air...

but, give it a try..follow the line back to its entrance and block it up...cauk, some sort of oil, anything..

clean up all food items, and put food in tuperware type containers...

it would probably drive me away as well!

An idiotic, annoying, crappy little ant?

(ok, i'm feeling some ant anger)

They are swarming my house and all over my computer desk, trying to

get in from the cold. They are driving me crazy! I keep flicking

them away and they end up on my hands and body, I have to admit in a

fury I might have smashed a couple. (although I am letting far more

live than I would like).

No natural methods are keeping them away, do I just have to live

with them?

oh, i've dealt with this! loud noises and constant motion deter them, in addition to citronella candles and clean and busy open spaces. they all told me that the ants had to die, but they didn't, not a one (they were abundant in the thousands at least, it seemed!). Shake their dwellings, introduce foul-smelling substances to the area, annoying sounds, and REORGANIZE--the perpetual rearrangement of all the rooms contents drove them in droves away from the house. it can be done; i wish that you find an easier method than i utilized, but don't blame them or hurt them, just annoy them 'til they leave!

Have you tried Dr. Broners castile liquid soap? You can find it at most

health food stores. I was reading something somewhere about how washing

your floors etc would drive them away or if you put a line of it on the

floor they wouldn't cross the line. I would try the peppermint scent one.

If you do a search on the internet I believe there is a website for Dr.

Broner's Castile soap. Find where the ants are comming from and put some

infront of their hole and than clean all your stuff with it and see if

that helps.

These are probably a different kind of ant, but last year we saw some wood

ants' homes in the woods in Northumberland, absolutely awe inspiring. The

homes were heaps about 3 to 5 feet high, of tiny bits of woody material, they

were beautifully formed cone shaped, and when we went for a closer look

they were teeming with ants and they were going in and out of the home, also

running about on the ground near the home carrying things back to the

home, some of them sharing their burden of leaves, twigs etc with each other,

wow, it was incredible. They are protected by law in some european countries

because of thir role in destroying forest 'pests'. I felt quite honoured to have

seen them!

They love it!

Also cayenne!

Crazy ants. They hide in my keyboard and come out of the keys.

Humane Deterrents

Ants

Paprika is supposed to be the easiest and best deterrent - sprinkle a line

across the ants' entryway, but be careful where it is sprinkled because it can

stain when it gets wet.

Ants also dislike the herbs pennyroyal, lavender, garlic and a liquid

preparation of ferns. Try liberal applications of these (the more concentrated

the better) on a regular basis.
