Guest guest
Hi, I decided to get a proper food supplement today. So I went shopping, armed with " Plant Based Nutrition & Health " (£7.95, available from vegansociety.com), and its page on what vegans should get from supplements if they're not carefully munching the right amounts of Kelp and Brazil nuts: 20 micrograms D2 150 micrograms Iodine 100 micrograms Selenium 10 micrograms B12 Because most supplements only go up to the EU RDA, and Stephen Walsh's RDAs are often higher than the official one (eg for D2 and Iodine), it was impossible to find a supplement with 20 micrograms D2, let alone the others. (Many contain Vitamin D as D3, which isn't vegan.) I checked Boots, and I checked the health food shop in Spitalfields Market. So, has anyone here found a one-a-day supplement which provides the nutrients listed above? Thanks, Ian
Guest guest
Hi Ian I take Quest Vegan Once A Day. It contains 100 micrograms of iodine, 32.5 micrograms of selenium and 50 micrograms of B12 - so not the amounts you need. Also it does not contain any vitamin D. It is the best one I have found so far, taking price into consideration and of course making sure they are vegan. We do take other supplements of selenium and eat Brazil nuts, and have margarine, soya milks and cereals fortified with D2 and B12. If you do find any better, then let me know. Jo> 20 micrograms D2 > 150 micrograms Iodine > 100 micrograms Selenium > 10 micrograms B12
