Guest guest
I like eating bread my mom makes with Dove organic malted bread flour and beer. Sometimes we put carraway seeds in it. Hope I spelt that right? My favorite sandwich filler is honey but it got to come from bee-friendly keepers who don't hurt bees like the big producers do. I like cucumber too cos I'm a cool kid! What do other people like I wonder? Come on, don't keep it secret! Messenger - Communicate instantly..."Ping" your friends today! Guest guest
Hi Jo, With you on the hummous ( I`ve yet to hear of a vegan who doesnt like it!), I may try the peanut butter and blueberry jam. But I cannot get my head around any imitation animal part product ( rash·er - A thin slice of fried or broiled bacon. A dish or an order of thin slices of fried or broiled bacon. ) Each to his ( or her, own I guess), so if your sharing your sangers with me , I`ll stick to the first two! Guest guest
Hi Peter I know a vegan who doesn't like hummous - Peter! The rest of my family like the rashers, and because of that I have grown to like them. If we meet for sandwiches, I'll make sure I don't have those. I > like cucumber too cos I'm a cool kid! What do other people like I > wonder? Come on, don't keep it secret! > For ages and ages, my staple diet was the lettuce, tomatoe and tahini sandwhich. Part of the reason I liked it was that it meant I ate lots of calcium via the tahini. Alas, " Plant-Based Nutrition " says that we don't absorb the calcium from Tahini, so I'm looking for something to use instead of it. I should really keep making it anyway, because the Tahini goes so well with the lettuce. As an undergraduate (possibly before I turned veggie, I can't remember), I discovered the banana and peanut butter stottie. (A stottie, for those of you who have never had the pleasure of living in Newcastle, is a sandwich made with one quarter of a long playing record sized bap. A long playing record, for you young people, is ... oh, ask your parents ) I did like it, but because it's fattening - and they don't make stottie baps down south - I don't have it very often. Guest guest
Ian A stottie sounds like something to be reckoned with. I've not heard of them before. I've only skimmed through the Plant based Nutrition book, and didn't see that part about tahini. Why is it we don't absorb it from sesame seeds? Why is it we don't absorb it from sesame seeds? I've checked, and I've remembered wrong. Absorption " has not been tested, and may be relatively low " , so the advice is " not to rely on Tahini as a principal source " . (I was pretty much relying on Tahini and soya milk.) Also, some Tahini is high in salt, which inhibits Calcium absorption. Of course, if we did know for sure that absorption was low, we still wouldn't necesarily know why. > > Jo
