Guest guest
Hi, I signed on to this list so I could help my daughter with her desire to be vegan. We are vegetarian in our household (I hope it's okay that I'm here!...) but she wants to be vegan. So I'm doing everything I can to help her. She is almost 13. I want her to feel successful at this because I think it's a great thing to do. I already buy organic and cook our meals with good quality ingredients, etc. We all already take a B12 supplement. I asked her to give me a list of the foods she would have the most trouble giving up so I could help her find substitutes. We've figured out pizza (I found a recipe for a vegan " cheese " that we tried and she liked). I know there are some things she's really missing but her heart is guiding her more than her stomach! We live in the San Francisco bay area (east bay). Thanks, nancy

I'll have to check that out. We are in Berkeley a lot (for my daughter I joke that it's like " returning her to the mothership " ). She loves it there. > > if ya like, check out the files area, there are some restaurant >listin in there fer local bay area places.... Those are great - thanks. We used to live in Oakland and I worked in Emeryville for a long time so I recall many of those places. I live in Lafayette now. I'll have to get back over that way to check out those restaurants. Again, thanks for the welcome and I look forward to learning lots both for myself and my daughter. nancy

My daughter is a really cool kid and I think it's admirable that she's so in tune with the world and its inhabitants. She said a boy at school told her " vegetarians are stupid - that's what they said on the Simpsons " - and she told him " if you get all your life lessons from the Simpsons you're going to be dead by the time you're 20. Guest guest
hello to you and yours, i think its totally awsome that your daughter has chosen such a great life decision for herself, all on her own. Good for her, and good for you. Your support means a lot more then you think. It sounds like you two are making the best out of something that can only be good. I wish you the best in your new life decision. Being vegan has its difficulties... being vegan and a teenager is extremely hard. Im so happy for you!!! have a fairy good day (vegan life), vgn_fairy , " njdoane " <njdoane> wrote: > Hi, > > I signed on to this list so I could help my daughter with her desire > to be vegan. Guest guest
Hi Nancy Unfortunately there will be people who are rude to your daughter for her dietary choice, but hopefully she will always come up with as goon an answer as she did for that person. She said a boy at school told her " vegetarians are > stupid - that's what they said on the Simpsons " I know this doesn't compare to you're daughter's answer, but isn't Lisa (the only sensible Simpson) veggie and Apu vegan? It's really not so bad - all my friends here moved from Berkeley, Oakland etc. so we are slowly infiltrating the area :-) nancy

Guest guest
Not to mention that obviously he's not very observant, because they were actually saying the opposite of that in the episode.
